Over 130 posts and no one has picked up on the fact that it may have been the wrong kid.

Yeah, I bet it sucks to be the kid who actually threw the egg -- having to live the rest of his life knowing his actions were paid for by his best friend.

However, if you and I rob a bank, and you are the one with the gun, do I get off the hook if we're caught? Aren't I simply asking for trouble, just by associating with you, in that type of scenario?

Perhaps I'm less guilty than you, but it doesn't mean the punishment will be any different.

In none of those examples was there intent to cause harm/damage.

I read all the posts and I didnt see what I wanted to see.

The parents of this dead juvenile delinquent should be hauled into family court and have any other children taken away from them and put into foster homes. To me it is obvious these are unfit parents.

There is a kid sitting in jail now for a long time for throwing an "ice ball" off an overpass and decapitating a mother of two on I-78 here in Pennsylvania. The kid will eventually get out. I am without at the friendship of this woman forever.

Throwing anything at a car is playing Russian roulette with the consequences just as deadly for both sides.

It all starts with parenting.

Over 130 posts and no one has picked up on the fact that it may have been the wrong kid At 12:30 AM the odds are very mch against the driver having been able to see who threw the egg.

At 12:30 at night a 14 y/o with a group of no good peers is up to no good is what I picked up.

In all of your scenarios, you were able to see what was happening, em2vn. When I was egged, I could barely see the car that the kids were in (I assume they were kids) on the other side of a concrete barrier so I had no idea this was going to happen, what did happen, or where it came from.

All I heard was an explosive sound making me think we had been shot. The mind does funny things when something like that happens.

30 years ago I chased some kids that hit my car.
Ran them right into their front door.

I told the parents if they wanted their kids to make it through highschool, they better train them better.

Interestingly, the parents did direct their anger at the kids, immediately!

Oh, now come on. You surely can't tell me that you believe that that crime justified that punishment. If some teenager egged your car would you chase him down into an ally and shoot him the chest? There is a reason the cops are looking for the shooter now. Because he's guilty of MURDER. It's not sugarcoating what the kid did, but the type of justice you're talking about makes "an eye for an eye" look like warm n' fuzzy liberalism.

if you have ever been to the hood...they are animals...the brain stem hasn't developed in a lot of these "kids"....sad to say..but true...

Totally agree. In the hoods many of them are not kids, they are savages. I am not sure about those involved in this particular incident, but out there they respond to nothing less than extremely harsh force. Once upon a time I used to be ambivalent about the death penalty, but after a couple of incidents in a "methamphetaminified" neighborhood (thankfully did not involve anyone dying), all that ambivalence is gone.

I suppose it's a deterrent, but the ends don't justify the means.

That's better. I'll agree with the "no intent", but there was ignorance, laziness and a lack of responsibility.

Why does it make no sense? My point is that the sort of justice the shooter, and you apparantly, advocate is even harsher than "an eye for an eye", because egging a car, as dangerous as it is, is not on the same level as shooting someone in the chest.

Your compassion for criminals and total lack there of for their victims borders on abetting.

LOL... Had some kids coming here every Friday and/or Sat. night and overturning the garbage cans and strolling it everywhere (one does not like to pick up the wife's female stuff from all over the neighborhood the next morning too well). Anyhoo... after about 2 months of this, I had enough. I took to hiding and waiting. Finally a truck full of kids started slowing down and a kid got out running to grab the can. I wasn't really prepared beyond just catching the punks, on what to do exactly with them. I (like an idiot) ran towards the kids yelling some prehistoric yell, and the kids ran towards the truck to get back in it. He was fast and made it to the truck screaming "GO GO GO GO GO" and I just reached them as he got the door shut. The window as open and I reached in and grabbed him and yanked his head to my face and yelled ...... (wait for it} ......

"YOU MAKE ME SO MAD".... then I let him go thinking I really didn't want to hurt him bad. LOL, I never could think of anything intellegent to say when I was mad...

Nobody has since messed with my garbage cans though.
