and they can start feeling like they have been used to feeling for, oh, the last nine centuries or so!
Change comes slow to say the least.
To: Soaring Feather

The pipes are piping in the moor
crying for those gone before
a mournful echoes through the thick mist
the old ones beat upon their chest
and the widows wail into the night.
Through the bogs a chill is felt
the piper pays his dues no doubt
the bones are laid to rest
in kilt and tartan all the best.
In Spring the warming of the earth
fills the bogs with brackish water
still the pipes sound is heard
flowing on the West ward winds
a mellow sound known to the Scots
for a hundred thousand years.
Battle scared and war worn weary
the pipers lay down the pipes
until the wrath is laid down
and marching through the bogs again.

Goodnight everyone.

Wow! That is a heavy and powerful piece. Vivid and sobering. What was the inspiration? The more stern side of the "Holiday Season"? (that being, the end of some things?).
BTW, I love your flickering candle as "Goodnight" graphic. But then, I liked the lamp too! ;-)

Good evening, to you starbase.
Thank You for your comments.
I really don't know where the muse came from, except I had been listening to the pipes.;)
To: tomkow6
Good morning, Tomkow, she has a nice pose and nice hair.
To: Soaring Feather
You mean you have pipe music on DVD? (did you knock three times?)

LOL!
Well, I am a moody gal, it's the Finnish in me.
I find I walk with the old ones. Strange I know.
I never was taught about Santa Claus, ours was a typical Finnish home centered around the church.
I have some fabulous music out of Norway, would you like to hear some?

Looks like a lovely music selection. You'll have to give me some time to sample all the offerings there, like dishes on the Christmas buffet table!

Howdy starbase, sure take your time I will leave them up a spell and there will be lots more.
Sample away, I have some swinging stuff from the 40s-do you like that genre?
I have Julie London, Peggy Lee, KoKo Taylor, Big Mama Thornton, and many more.
To: Soaring Feather
Sure, the '40s sound great. I have seen three restaurants in town that are offering Christmas dinners. Actually, it's been 4 years since I ate a Christmas style dinner! Maybe even since I ate any turkey at all!
I'm thinking I might take some pictures of the more mundane side of Thailand, to fit more the new social feel around here (that is, the death of the party tourist culture). It might be interesting to see just the normal things, Internet cafe, guest houses, streets with cars, you know, kind of wipe away a little of the dazzle and just look at things as they are.
It's 10am now, maybe I'll walk around this afternoon and take some "Thailand Unplugged" pictures for posting later.
