Laugh... it's working...

I sort of suspected that - as when making their Wii's I was able to give the husband his grey hair AND mustache ..

It really is a blast!

Jeez, Doc, eat any undercooked turkey yesterday. I hear having a bad case of salmonella ain't so great to have.

Red Steel is a blast. Call of Duty 3 is kicking my butt though.

i still want to know what they were thinking when they came up with that name.
I think it's great. It's easy to remember, easy to google on, etc.

I just wish I hadn't already purchased my kids an XBox 360 for Christmas, because I think they'd love this. Oh well, probably for the best as now I won't be tempted to play the darn thing.

I got a Wii, and for the first time in my life I was physically tired and had sore muscles from playing a video game. Several hours spent boxing, playing tennis and sword fighting will do that. Forget ultra-powerful machines, forget total media center game consoles, because the Wii just made gaming fun again.

The worst nightmare of the crotchety technology-phobes of Free Republic has arrived...a video game that actually promotes physical fitness. Not only that, but it seems like a great way to get people together to have fun in a social setting.

I guess they'll have to find something new to gripe about.

Trust me, I think they'll be quite glad to have the Xbox 360.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

It's called "Gears of War". I'd love to play it online with my coworkers (most of my coworkers have it or are getting it), but from what I understand it is staggeringly violent. I'm not talking FPS violent like Halo or Call of Duty -- I'm talking cutting people in half with chainsaws and blood splattering on the "camera" violent.

I don't want to have that in the house, because even if I am the only one playing it, my kids would see it. That's probably for the best, as I don't really play video games now and I can't really spare the time. The XBox 360 is a gift for the kids, not a time suck for Dad.

I watched them playing it yesterday and it looked like they were killing aliens, not people, but you're right, it did splattter. I asked about the "blood" aspect and evidently, from what these kids told me you could "turn off" the extreme content which includes the blood graphics and the swearing. Don't know if that's right, or if they were just telling a mom what she wanted to hear.

Yes, Gears of War is extremely violent and full of profanity. Honestly, I don't think it's THAT good of a game. It's way overrated. Basically, it's a regular shooter with very realistic blood, gore, and the F-word.

The Wii jokes will never get old.

Mother : Son, what are you doing?

Son : I'm playing with my Wii!

Mother : You'll go blind doing that!

:)
