A First: Budweiser Shootout Draw Party Seen in Prime-Time
SPEED to Televise Drawing for the Starting Line-up

Thursday night, February 8, will mark several “firsts” in the 29-year history of the Budweiser Shootout at Daytona. For the first time, the drawing to determine the starting line-up for Saturday night’s 70-lap Shootout will be seen on prime-time television, as SPEED kicks-off their massive Daytona Speedweeks schedule. Fans across North America can tune-in at 8 pm ET Thursday evening to see the one-hour special with co-hosts Steve Byrnes and Kenny Wallace along with 21 Nextel Cup stars. Each of the drivers will participate in the random draw for their starting position. The field includes six current or former Nextel Cup champions and nine past winners of the Budweiser Shootout.

I see the new Nascar site isn't up yet.

Here is how it looked in 1996.

Fifty years ago today to the hour the Benders were united in matrimony at my sisters house here in Eureka. When I went back to work Monday morning I was told I was being laid off but my supervisor had found a job for me with the same pay.

My sister still lives in the same house but her husband passed away in 1997...

I think this is the right county:

Volusia County:

* According to Progress Energy, four transmission lines are out in Deltona. About 5,300 customers are without power.
* Schools are open except for DeLand Middle, Southwestern Middle, Starke Elementary and Deltona Lakes Elementary in Volusia County on Friday.
* All lanes of Interstate 4 are reopened. A ramp is closed from State Road 44 to Interstate 4 west.
* Daytona Beach Community College West Campus is closed.
* Several New Smyrna Beach subdivisions reported extensive damage. The area around Turnbull Bay and New Smyrna Beach Airport was heavily damaged. There are also reports of damage in the areas of Hawthorne Hills, Lake Beresford and Hontoon Island.
* New Smyrna Beach Citizen's Information Lines have been opened: 424-2113 or 424-2114.
* Volusia County Citizen's Information Line: 866-345-0345.
* US-1 is closed from Nova in Port Orange to Industrial in New Smyrna Beach.
* Volusia County Sheriff's Office spokesman Brandon Haught said there was extensive damage in the DeLand area because of multiple tornadoes, and multiple people were trapped across the city.
* Debris and tree limbs are littering the road along U.S. Highway 17-92 in DeLand.
* Shelter opening at "Babe" James Community Center in New Smyrna Beach. The address is 201 North Myrtle St.

What is a Camino browser?

Anything like the COT?

On Speed last night Bob Dilner was asking different drivers what their favorite thing about the COT...Jr's answer " the COT has a bigger cockpit with more room to move around" and his least favorite thing about the COT...Jr chuckles & replies "everything else"

I didn't realize it but it looks like Camino is a Mac only Mozilla derivative similar to FireFox.

A Camino is one of those vehicles that could never figure out whether it wanted to be a car or a truck. Have a friend who turned one into a pretty decent hotrod. ;)

After 2012,, it won't matter who's the official tire of Nascar, per the Mayans. ;-)

Goodyear, NASCAR sign 5-year extension

ORLANDO, Fla. - Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has reached a five-year contract extension with NASCAR to remain its exclusive tire provider through 2012.

The extension was announced Saturday night at Goodyear's annual dealer conference.

Goodyear has supplied tires to NASCAR since the 1950s, and has been the sole provider since 1994 when Hoosier pulled out.

"Nothing says racing like NASCAR, and Goodyear has been recognized as the longest-running sponsor of the sport," said Jon Rich, president of Goodyear's North American Tire business. "We plan to have our Eagle tires in the winner's circle for another 50 years."
