So... um... you wanna talk about, like, the country... or something? Or you just wanna call me gay? 'Cause my "stupid kumbaya" fiancé is sitting right next to me, and she's pretty sure I'm not.
WE ARE ALL AMERICANS. I'm here to defend the poster on DU because, well, I think he/she really said what needed to be said at the moment.
I don't hate republicans. For a democrat, I'm awfully conservative. Barry Goldwater is my first cousin. However, I'm losing hope by the minute.

Actually, it is a pretty good post and a very bright silver lining in a site that usually offers only ugly, dark clouds. Yeah, maybe, if it had any basis in fact. Half of the things on that list are laughable. They have proven time and time again that they reward corruption in their party, they do not hold thier own accountable. Annd they do not tolerate diversity of opinion. They silence opposing opinion at every opportunity.

Well, since you've been registered here for five whole days, I have to say you've really earned the right to lecture people.
Please - give us more of your deep insights, o wise one.

Why don't you all just calm down and listen. This isn't some PR spin this is the definition of a gracious winner, so stop whining.Except that we know, as you know, that this is all post-election happy talk that's about as sincere as a three-dollar bill. You people and your media have spent the last six years calling us racists, bigots, mouth-breathing idiots, theocrats, Nazis, baby killers and war criminals. And now we're supposed to believe that you really weren't serious, and now you're interested in just getting along?
This isn't "gracious winning" - it's arrogant, condescending bullshit, and as far as I'm concerned, you can go rub it in someone else's face.

So what are Democrats going to do to protect property rights? Since, you know, they are going to protect my livelihood and all.

"they certainly don't want to alienate anyone"
WOW! What planet are you on?
Maybe this particular guy doesn't - BUT the VAST VAST majority don't give a damn! The only thing most of them understand is whine whine whine "I diden git my way!! sob"
"I'm smarter, better, and more liked than you....and now that we're in charge you're all going to do whatever we want...and..and.."why can't we all just get along?"
As far as Iraq is concerned - There's absolutely no doubt that it's the single most important issue of our time!!!
The problem is - the Dems can't be trusted, at all, to help in any meaningful way to achieve victory there. There are just too many of them who believe either that we "can't" win or that we shouldn't even be over there.

Well, if you insist.
Look at candidates like Webb, Tester, and Hodes. These guys were total unknowns until the netroots at DU and Daily Kos brought them to the forefront and raised millions for their campaigns.
This is what the democrats want: government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

"Democrats" aren't going to do much of anything about property rights the Congress will. We elected a whole wave of pro-gun, anti-abortion, pro-family democrats in the west and mountain west, and I can't wait for this wave to start sweeping the democratic party in full force.
Democrats believe all kinds of things but most of all, we believe in people.
To: landeraepi
I just like calling liberals gay because it pisses them off, even if they are gay.
You can defend it all you want, but this piece of garbage post is inflammatory and should be treated as the lump of crap it is.
The Democratic Party is the party of corruption and has been since JFK stole the 1960 election. For them to promise to hold their politicians accountable is like John Gotti promising to self-police the mob.
If you can't read between the lines of this post, you really have a reading comprehension problem. It is not an olive branch extended in good faith, and anybody who honestly believes it is a dullard.
For the record, I am fully aware that you know what I just said to be the truth. You're just here to troll and your veneer of reasonability is a sham. You can't possibly be as naïve as you pretend to be.

Oh yeah, Jim Webb was a completely anonymous citizen who had never been involved in politics before.
OK.

It's not garbage. Accept in your mind that it might not be garbage, and you'll realize that this is actually in earnest.
And no, I don't have a reading comprehension problem. 99th percentile SAT/ACT/GRE on the subject, if you must know and now I help less-fortunate kids improve their own reading comprehension skills.
And that you're "fully aware that [I] know what [you] just said to be the truth" shows just how "fully aware" you actually are.
