Hard to pick a favorite. Damned hard, which is why Sinatra is timeless and like no other.

Ava Gardner was the one!

While driving down 95 through NC a while back,I spotted a sign for the Ava Gardner Museum in Smithfield.I needed a break so I stopped in,given that I've been a fan of hers since seeing Night of the Iguana.

Very interesting...very impressive.Well worth some time and $5.

I love Sinatra for several reasons...so much of his stuff was so great...and hearing his songs reminds me of my Dad,who was a huge fan of his.

So much of what he did was outstanding that I can't really choose a favorite.

Greatest singer ever ...... pretty good drinker too (at times).

My favourite too!

Someday, when I'm awfully low
when the world is cold, I will feel a glow
Just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight

*sigh* BRING BACK ROMANTIC MUSIC!

I liked Frank's song, "Five Minutes More."

Give me five minutes more, only five minutes more,
Let me stay, let me stay, in your arms ...
Here I am, begging for, only five minutes more,
Only five minutes more of your charms.
All week long I dreamed about our Saturday date--
Don't you know that Sunday morning you can sleep late!
Here I am, begging for, only five minutes more,
let me stay, let me stay, in your arms!

Frank Sinatra was, in my opinion; the finest singer of his own generation, as well as any other generation. He recorded over 1600 songs, they all are pretty fabulous; so it's truly difficult to pick just one.

May I pick an album instead ?

"Francis Albert Sinatra and Antonio Carlos Jobim"

This album was recorded in 1967, and is generally considered by Sinatraphiles to be one of Sinatra's finest efforts in the recording studio, even though it comes in at only 28 minutes long! Highly recommended.

*I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn and a king ...

I've been up and down and over and out, but I know one thing ...

Each time I find myself flat on my face ...

I pick myself up and get ... back .. in ... the ... race ...

That's life .... I can't deny it ...

Many times I've thought of cutting out, but my heart just won't buy it ....

And if there's nothing shakin' come this here July ...

I'm gonna roll myself up in a big ball ... aa-a-n-n-nd ... die ...

My ... my.

It's not my favorite, but it's quintessential modern Frank, I think. I mostly prefer his 40s Big Band things, but like just about everything he did.

"Young at Heart" is probably my most favorite of his. But also:

"I'll be Seeing You"
"Stars Fell on Alabama"
(When somebody loves you, it's no good unless she loves you) "All The Way"
"Autumn Leaves"
"September Song"
"All of Me" (why not take all of me?)
"Laura" (*swoon*)
"They Can't Take That Away from Me"
"Our Love is Here to Stay"
"I'll Never Smile Again"
"Night and Day"
"I Get a Kick Out of You"
"From Here to Eternity"
"Sentimental Journey"
"I've Got You Under My Skin"
"Anything Goes"
"Just in Time"
(I Saw You Last Night and Got) "That Old Feeling"
"I've Heard That Song Before"
"These Foolish Things" (remind me of you)
"I Only Have Eyes for You"

So many more ...

I finally got a chance to listen to Opus 27 (etc.). I didn't know such sites were "out there." Thank you for the ping. I wouldn't trade living in this age for anything, but can you imagine the thrill it gave people in Chopin's time when an earnest, talented pianist or two performed such selections at soirees, when all fell silent under the enchantment of the music and the moment, in honor of the composer and the hard work of the artist who played it?
