Might be like last time Coldwater closed up shop. You know after the Blinko's incident. They took out their crystal ball and proclaimed no new news was going to come out.
Martin Luther King quotes :
"In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."
"The hottest place in Hell is reserved for those who remain neutral in times of great moral conflict."
"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
"A right delayed is a right denied."
"He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it."

MARK TWAIN ADDRESS AT A GATHERING OF AMERICANS IN LONDON, JULY 4, 1872
"We have a criminal jury system which is superior to any in the world; and its efficiency is only marred by the difficulty of finding twelve men every day who don't know anything and can't read."
Isn't she a pain in the a$$??!!
I was wondering if she's a reincarnated Savanna. That's I thought that Love, Savvy message was all about. Savvy short for Savanna.
Granny came back as Chic.

Friends of Durham decries Durham Committee
Author: Barbara Barrett; September 6, 2002, The News & Observer
DURHAM -- Just days before the primary election that likely will choose Durham County's next commissioners, a conservative political group sent out a mailing slamming the Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People, calling on voters to "reject the racism" of the organization.
The conservative Friends of Durham sent its endorsement letter to thousands of voters, listing its choices for several local races, including those for county commissioner and the school board.
But the letter also spends four paragraphs talking about another group, the Durham Committee, and its chairwoman, Lavonia Allison. The letter points out that the committee has endorsed only black candidates in local races.
Allison could not be reached Thursday. The head of the committee's political subcommittee, Deborah Giles, said she wouldn't comment on the letter.
In the mailing, Friends accuses the committee of "abandoning all pretense that its cause is noble," saying the group "represents wealthy, powerful, well-connected black people who have betrayed everything decent the Committee ever stood for."
The letter recounts stories in The Independent Weekly newspaper about Allison's record as a landlord and a past traffic accident in which a child was injured. Friends links Allison to the local NAACP chairman and recounts his recent arrest at a school board meeting.
The letter says that Friends' endorsed candidates "will not loot the public treasury or abuse the public trust for their own gain."
It continues, "Vote for them ... to preserve your neighborhood, your schools, and your community."
Friends Chairman Patrick Byker, who signed the letter, said Thursday that the group sent the mailing to inspire people to vote Tuesday.
He said the Friends group was upset to see the committee endorse only African-Americans. He also said that the group reminded voters of Allison's past because the mainstream media haven't published anything about it. -cut-
**It's like a dictatorship. -- Looting the public treasury -- We must not let the criminals rule Durham.**
I realize the article from the N&O is from 2002, but didn't the Friends of Durham endorse Nifong in the 2006 primary?

What people seem to be forgetting is the av did not shower prior to her rape exam.
AV stated she was was fighting for her life, fighting to breathe and raped orally, anally and vaginaly. (yeah, right)
If there were 3 men ejaculating in such closed quarters (in her or out of her) during a violent rape, there would have been semen somewhere on her person. (And not semen from having sex with her boyfriend days before)
Common sense. Where's the semen? Nifong needs to go to prison for a very long time.
Absolutely. This new "evidence" clears further, if such a thing is possible, the three innocents. It goes to show that dna testing picks up everything (I know I have posted on this before) and so the fact that this additional sampling picks up the dna of people who lived in the house, but not the other defendants and not the fa, just confirms that the entire thing is a hoax. Each time that the dna testing finds dna that does not belong to reade or colin but finds dna of people who were present, it confirms that it is a marker of what people actually did and the probability that reade and colin and the accuser had a violent struggle and left nothing as improbable as the earth stopping and spinning in the other direction.
But this additional "evidence" also puts a further dagger, again if that is possible, into the prosecution theory. One could say that testing area, or clean up, or some unknown factor prevented the police from finding dna, but if they find dna that matches what people admit doing, it further precludes the possibility that a violent struggle ocurred.
I have emailed reporters on this and they say good point--agreeing that this evidence is wildly pro defense but do not include it in the article. Also, the standing challenge I raise with them and with anybody in the whole world, is to find an expert, even the most biased pro-prosecution expert, who can articulate a theory based on science that would leave this pattern of evidence.
And, even beyond all of this, even if some theory existed that would in an improbable universe result in a struggle leaving NO evidence but mundane activites leaving plenty, the lacrosse players could not have known that ahead of time and so by declaring no sexual contact in advance, they were makign profound declarations of innocence (and avoiding the cross that they waited until after the dna came back to deny innocence).
Arrggg
In a scientific experiment this is what as know as a "control". The test of DNA from CGM for the three purported attackers was not faulty (i.e. false negative) because it DID find the DNA of someone with whom she had sex prior to the incident (i.e. true positive). The DNA tests of the various items in the house are in the same category. If there was incriminating DNA to be found it would have been found because the UNincriminating DNA WAS found.
Are you seaking of the BALD man? :)

Blinco police assault story makes the N&O blink
The McClatchy Company owns the Raleigh News & Observer. It also sponsors the Editor's Blog, where the N&O's exec editor for news, Melanie Sill, is supposed to respond to questions and commentary.
Lately readers have been asking Sill a slew of questions about the N&O's failure to report on critical questions concerning an alleged assault by Durham police officers a week ago last Thursday.
The incident occurred just before midnight in the parking lot of Blinco's, a popular Raleigh sports bar frequented by some Durham police officers who witnesses at the scene described as "regulars."
Raleigh police have charged two Durham police officers with assault, but the alleged victim, a cook at Blinco's, says Raleigh police charged the wrong brother officers.
The cook described one of his assailants as fat and bald, a description which fits Durham police Sgt. Mark Gottlieb, principal investigator in the Duke lacrosse case, who was at the scene of the assault. Photos of the two officers charged show them with full heads of hair.
Pruitt's Raleigh N&O, which only a few months ago searched courthouse records to find any misdemeanor charge leveled against anyone whose name appeared on a Duke Men's lacrosse roster going as far back as 1999, just can't seem to work up any interest in finding out about the police assault at Blinco's or the bald, fat officer.
Trying to get news about the incident from Editor Sill or any N&O reporter is like asking them why they deliberately called the accuser "the victim" in their Mar. 24 and 25 "news stories" or why on Apr. 2 the N&O printed and distributed the infamous "vigilante" poster
I think everyone understands why the N&O now refuses to answer questions about it's deliberate framing of the Duke lacrosse players, but why is it silent about a story on its own "doorstep?"
Well, one things for sure: Readers aren't folding like rented chairs or N&O reporters.
Just look at what they're saying and reporting on the comment thread of A few responses on Duke lacrosse.
All the comments are worth reading, but scroll down to the comment from Markie on 7/27/06 at 17:47 and read down from there for the most recent material.
You'll see readers point out what the N&O isn't telling them: That the bald guy in the police assault on the cook at Blinco's sports bar the cook mentioned as an assaulter was not charged; that two guys with hair were; that the cook then said Raleigh PD had charged the wrong guys; and the N&O ignored it all.
You'll see where a reader does what the N&O may have done but hasn't reported on so far: Visit Blinco's and try to determine how likely it is that a Durham Police deputy chief's statement that the two groups of Durham police at Blinco's at the same time just before the incident didn't know each other were police is true. The reader/ reporter (doing the job an N&O reporter should have done) concludes that given the relatively small size of Blinco's, it's not very likely that two groups of cops in plain clothes could have been there at the same time without each group not knowing the other was there.
Not very likely.
The small size of Blinco's makes it virtually impossible the two groups didn't recognize each other.
There are two other reasons why it's virtually impossible the two groups didn't know the other were police:
1) Whenever off-duty police out of uniform enter a bar, they almost always identify themselves to the bartender/mgr/owner for all sorts of reasons; not least because they want the bartender/mgr/owner to know that if something happens in a flash (a robbery, for instance) and they needed to draw their guns, the bartender/etc will know they are good guys, and not fire on them with a gun the bartender/etc might have.
2) Again, if one group of officers need "in a flash" to draw their guns, the last thing they want is for another group of officers to take them for "bad guys" and start firing on them.
So off-duty cops always let barkeeps know they're off-duty cops, and always make sure to know who in the bar might also be off-duty cops.
Why is the N&O avoiding reporting critical aspects of this story?

I just got in - been on the road all day. Y'all want a new thread?
How long is this going to continue? How on earth does a DA get away with this? Is it all for PC reasons? Intimidating peers on a board for putting their name on a petition is outrageous! Where are the feds?
When did racist white cops beating up on an AA american male become alright? Where is the NAACP in all of this (oh yeah they are supporting the false accuser)?
Excellent commentary here about the HS and NandO

I was worried about Monks being a spoiler, but after watching the video of his announcement today, I don't see his candidacy as a threat to Nifong:

Hopefully, there are more Durham locals committed to vote for Cheek (aka Anybody But Nifong) than are willing to go public about it. Is the outrage toward Nifong really there, but there's no organization through which to express it? Or are the locals a complacent bunch likely to sit the election out?
