Actually, I do find it indicativeMe too. I find it mostly indicative that those 33% votes across the board were completely creative marketing.

How about the biggie, the heaven-puppies-kittens-rainbows-smileyfaces-holdinghands song?
Any news on that?

Idol producers quietly release the voting totals after the finale, but never during the season and for good reason. If you knew, for instance, that Clay Aiken was so far ahead every week, it would be a waste of time watching, Lythgoe explained. You wouldnt vote for anybody else because you would think, Well, [my choice] is never going to win, Clay is so far ahead of the game.
If my theory serves me right... Taylor, like Clay before him could have been far in advance most of this season. DIALIDOLS figures, while not exactly accurate in the details, is INDICATIVE of the trend. Taylor has always been number 1 for the past 12 weeks.
Another tidbit is Nigel thinks they will raise the maximum age to 30. So we may get more Taylor-type contestants, who have experience. Which should tell you something. Taylor may have made them rethink things. Why would that be unless he was really popular.
Finally, if they are going to raise the age by one year, I hope they consider raising the minimum age to 18 as well. Most of these kids need to finish high school IMHO.

I still love this story:
Meanwhile, Katrina was the reason Taylor Hicks was able to audition. "I was [visiting] New Orleans the night before Hurricane Katrina hit. I had my flight back to Birmingham [Alabama, his home] Sunday night, so I called the airline and told them I was in the eye of the storm and was driving instead, so they gave me a voucher to fly anywhere in the country. I used that to fly to Vegas to audition."

I have heard that he is working with her. (Notice the lack of talk show circuit this week)
Also, he has retained the services of an agent and he's meeting with producers already. The agent that picked him up is excited to have him. I'll post more when it is "official". Someone out in Hollywierd walked him in.

If that is accurate about Clay and Reuben that's not going to settle down the conspiracy nuts. How does all that change with one show? I'm not sure there are that many "ine time only" fans. I, of course, could be wrong.
I also found it interesting that Chris tried out for Rockstar INXS. IMHO that show was WAY better as far as musical talent. It was also far more comprehensive and judged them on ability to write music, rearrange music, collaborate, and placed a heavier emphasis on total musicianship.

Are you talking about Elliott?
To: retrokitten
Quite simply, it means that Taylor energizes his fan base much more than any of the other contestants. That kind of "energy" translates into people buying CD's and tickets.

(Diapers and Politicians must be changed often, for the same reason.)
To: MarMema
Apparently debunked, however. They'll probably just let him clean up after the show instead of actually singing. Or put him in a huge group at the back and let him help with the backup vocals. If 4th place gets to sing with a favored band, surely 3rd place will be treated accordingly!

I sure hope we get to see Chris sing "I Alone" with live. The look on Simon's face would be worth the price.....:-)

This blog reports that "the two kids have been given a choice to sing a.) either two songs previously performed and judged between the round of 12 through the round of 4 (disqualifying final 3 and semi-final round songs) or b.) they can sing one previous number and a new, not-yet-performed one, if they choose." No source for this rumor has surfaced. There are rumors that Katharine McPhee's song choices are "Over the Rainbow" and "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" and were announced on LA's Good Day Live this morning. This rumor is unsubstantiated at this time.
SOTR was a final 3 song so by their own writing wouldn't it be disqualified?

How come the winner is announced on Tuesday? Don't we vote anymore?? Where did you get that from? The winner is announced on Wednesday.

Cowell is a despicable man.Cowell is having trouble understanding US culture, I think. We root for the underdog, and don't want things structured too much.
That spirit has been asleep. Maybe it's waking up, culturally and in terms of current events.

Yes, I was responding to someone's post.

He's all about crushing people's spirit. One thing to say something isn't up to standards but to make the comment that he had just goes to show you how much of a bastard he is.
To: SirLinksalot
Another tidbit is Nigel thinks they will raise the maximum age to 30.On the other end, it would be nice to see them raise the minimum to 18 or HS graduation. All of the younger ones this year (even Paris) would've benefitted from a little more time being kids.

"One will be named the next American Idol on Tuesday."
I'm thinking maybe the paper means that after the voting the officials will know the results on Tuesday. I can't figure out if "named" here means chosen or announced. The lib writer probably doesn't have a clue how A.I. works. Probably never watches it. After all it is a wildly popular program that is decent for the entire family, the people on it are out to better themselves, and normal America loves it. Stupid newspaper.
