I have read he's pretty stubborn and also his being older is a good thing as far as not being naive to the ways of the PTB. He did a lot of proactive stuff before hand to protect himself too from what I've read like trademarking his name. He did major in business, marketing and communications when he was in school. Evidently he paid attention.

I always felt that if Neilson put a rating machine on my TV I'd have to immediately rush out and buy a second TV. That way I would use the Neilson TV for shows I should be watching and are wholesome and good and the second secret TV to watch the shows I want to watch. I'm awful.

You know who does a great version of "Levon?"

This guy.

It really makes you appreciate how hard being an elite recording artist must be. Neither of those mp3s are in the same galaxy as the real thing.

I think the graycharles site has a live "club" version of Hicks doing Levon. I found it to be spectacular and better than his AI cover.

Taylor Hicks performed two songs this season where I remembered the audience could not stop clapping after the performance and Randy couldn't get in a word waiting for the non-stop applause to die down ( Nigel Lythgoe later said he was worried that there wouldn't be time for commercials ).

Most remember TAKIN' IT TO THE STREETS where Taylor did the dog-winder dancing and it was eventually recorded in the American Idol Season 5 Album.

For me, the more masterful performance with better dancing was his version of Stevie Wonder's LIVIN' IN THE CITY. It compares well with the original IMHO.

SEE HERE FOR A VIDEO OF THE PERFORMANCE :

MORE KAT McPHEE FAMILY INFO FOR THOSE WHO CARE....

I don’t know if any of you will be be interested in this but here is a web site for Kat's McMommy.

Her name is Peisha Mcphee :

http://www.peishamcphee.com/

The website tells us that McMommy was a 4-time winner on Ed McMahon’s “Next Big Star” - what’s that? Like Star Search or something? Also, strange that Katharine isn’t really mentioned but referred to as American Idol Season 5 Contestant!?

Among other things we find out :

* Peisha also has a busy private studio practice. Her students have received numerous honors as well while working with her. Among these are:

* Vocal coach for American Idol contestant, 5th season

* Winner of the First Annual Oak Room Young Artist Competition, Samantha Sidley - Algonquin Hotel, NYC

* Acceptance to the prestigious Cabaret Symposium at Yale University

* Acceptance to the Perry- Mansfield Performing Arts School, Colorado

* 4-time winner on Ed McMahon’s “Next Big Star”

* National Arts Scholar / performance on 2003 Grammys Pre-Show at The Apollo Theater in Harlem

* Acceptance to Anne Reinking’s Broadway Theater Project in Tampa, FL

* Acceptance to Los Angeles County of the Performing Arts, Berklee College of Music, The Boston Conservatory, Syracuse University, Webster University, USC, UCLA ( many including full talent scholarships)

* World-class cabaret artist and musical theater star Peisha McPhee has been charming audiences for several years with her expressive and versatile voice. Peisha headlines at Helen’s Hideaway night club in New York City, and she regularly performs to sold-out crowds at the legendary Cinegrill and Tom Rolla’s Gardenia supper club in Los Angeles.

Well, now you know where Kat Mcphee gets her singing style from folks !

Very interesting, SL! And perhaps this illustrates where Kat gets her dressing style from also:

LMAO!!

I have it down to a science. I add the person I am voting for into my address book. Then they have these things called "quick notes" where it's quick message like, 'Where are you?' or 'What's up?' I added one that says, "Vote." So all I have to do is click create message, quick note vote, send to, and that's it. Otherwise it is too much effort.

How strange not to mention her own daughter by name.

It's not just that Kat is pretty, but that she has this very strong actress vibe to her looks.

She wants to be a movie actress. As I've mentioned previously on the thread, she said so on Good Day L.A. last week during the homecoming visits of the top three. For her, recording a CD would be just a step toward her ultimate goal. I think she's already accomplished everything she wanted to with AI.

Exactly what I thought, then I figured it would look "better" to have someone she wasn't kin to up there.

I guess so, but it's not exactly a secret that her mom is her vocal coach. They showed them rehearsing together in the first episode.

Oh I know, but I have a feeling her website may not be viewed (or she doesn't think it is) by people who watch American Idol. Still not kosher, IMO.

Diana spent this past holiday season on tour in support of the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. She travelled to 7 countries in 7 days during a USO tour. Diana visited U.S. bases in the Middle East and eastern Africa and hosted holiday shows with comedian Reggie McFadden and country music singer Michael Peterson. They travelled with the chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Peter Pace.

Another one that remembers our troops!

Looks like they saw they made a boo-boo and changed it. Don't want to look like they knew before hand.

Either that or someone else went in and changed it for them! Anyone can edit it. :)
