Her final number was a blues song about being broken-hearted and down to her last dime. She had a big silly grin on during the entire performance. A blues singer she is not! Horrible.

I understand that LouAnn Barton--she ain't. But that drove me nuts!

I believe that Kat has the advantage on both counts... texting and West Coast votes.

You are correct. That is why our Founding Fathers were brilliant to start the Electoral College rather than pure popular voting. AI would do well to come up with a similar system to bring more fairness to the voting.

Putting on my cynical hat: You are assuming they care about the actual number of votes in order to determine the winner. My belief is that they care about generating phone calls and text message of which they get a kickback from AT&T and Cingular. Then all they care about is finding the most marketable person to "popular" radio. That's it. I still don't believe the votes count 100% as cast or they would show us the numbers and they never have. Nor will they.

I agree - there's been a couple performances where she's really blown me away. But then she tries so hard to be like...I don't know what she's trying to be like - but I don't like when she goes overboard. She should just get up there and sing...and try to look like she's having fun.

Plus some of her attitude is so entitlement, it's a big turn off and seems to make her sound even worse!

Good observation. It makes sense (outside of the text messaging totals). I wonder how those numbers coincide with the DialIdol and Zabasearch totals both being completely different than what was reported on the show last night.

Hubby and I are thinking the powers that be are simply trying to keep those Elliot viewers, who are upset, engaged in the "neck and neck" competition. Making the totals so close, and the winner completely unpredictable is the obvious way to increase excitement and keep viewership...much like a cliffhanger.

For the record, I suspect they made those totals up. Tin foil hat on tight...

Now someone tell me about this skype thing.

Accusations are flying in a few places that Kat fans used some phone program they downloaded to vote from the east coast during west coast time.

Something about plugging in the area code and the program is apparently called skype.

I have to go to bed but I was hoping someone here knew about it or could debunk it, because I know freepers are way, way talented people.

That was singularly the worst blues song performance of all time.

Katherine is a great singer, but a horrible musician.

Taylor, OTOH, is a true musician. He understands music. Every note he sings is like an artist paintstroke. I was hoping for a Chris/Taylor face off, two excellent muscians. But alas, that is not to be.

As far as I know it's sort of like voice over IP calling. I don't know how that would effect the voting.

She has a big bone structure,a nd wide, womanly hips..(which means she'll have kids easily..)but if you look at the pics showing her side view, she has a very small waist...and a nicely curved derriere..

It seems unfair not to let the contestants play an instrument if they choose in at least one of the many Idol performances.

If Katherine can flash her boobies, why can't Taylor flash his harmonica skills?

(Ah yes, the angry rocker against the happy go lucky guy with the harmonica. Would have been interesting.)

It would have been way interesting! Especially if Chris could pull out his guitar, and Tailor, the harmonica. That would have been fun!

I assume they are paying for all those toll free numbers and if not they have traded those costs for providing the promotion of Cingular and AT&T. That being said, I'm sure that being the cash cow that it is to FOX that they will avoid any "payola" type scandal at all costs.

As far as marketability goes, only a couple of the winners would fit into that category. Fantasia and Ruben being the two most obviously hard to market. Neither with looks or singing in the popular genre.

She'll probably get a HUGE endorsement deal with McDonald's...heck, they can rebrand their french fries as "McTaters"

It's just such a pleasure to see someone with such talent who is also such a delightful person.

What's great is that you can tell that this experience wasn't wasted on Elliott. He was a sponge, soaking up all he could about performing, the music business, etc.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

With most of the contestants, there is a genuine love of music. They found it on their own, and pursued it because they loved it. I'm not sure this is the case with Katharine, and too some degree, Paris. With Katharine, I get the impression that her mom had a daughter, and thought, "I shall train this child to be a great singer." So, Katharine is trained, but her mother can't instill a passion for music within her. It may be there, but Katharine has to discover it on her own. If she does, she'll get way better.

He sang a good Moody's Mood For Love and the Ray Charles tune he really smoked as well. When it was not about competing but rather just performing for the pleasure of it we saw so much more of him than last night.

Elliott was FABULOUS last night. I was so proud of him, especially since he was the one genuine amateur (at the beginning of the season) left standing at the end. I hope with all my heart he gets a top-notch manager and a recording contract out of this, because that boy can SING. A top-notch manager is the key, though.

Re the autograph, thank you for the offer. What I would love is if you can get one, don't give it to me. Instead, find some child, boy or girl, who is ill in a hospital, or otherwise in need of a boost, and give it to him or her on my behalf. :)
