That's what I thought after seeing those"percentages".

Still only 8:50pm here on the West Coast, so I haven't seen the show or percentages. But I actually got that feeling last night when it seemed to me the AI machinery was pulling out all the stops for her.

My family was voting for Elliott last night. Since we were watching House, we voted from 10 - 11pm.

It was almost always busy too. Seems hard to believe the numbers from the point of someone calling.

But Simon's already gone on record saying that Taylor's going to win so I don't suspect they'll try to fix it for Katharine to "come from behind" and win.

(they respectfully omitted the "Bad Day" song this time)

We heard it here. I was singing along with it--not because we were happy, but it really is a catchy tune.

It's always sad the last few shows of Idol. I bet to the contestants it's like losing your best friends. :^(

by artificially choking the phone lines they can get ANY vote total they want

I had that thought last night when I encountered more busy signals but especially tons of those "the call you were trying to make..." or whatever.

Ah well, such is show business. That said, I am going to be McCalling for Taylor next week on principle especially.

Naaaahhhh. Elliott's people go to Taylor in droves.

Hi misterrob. How ya feeling? I hope the family is in no way discouraged by Elliott leaving tonight. He's got legions of fans. If you don't mind, I'd love to keep in touch with you via FReemail to track his career.

Anyway, I hope you're right that Elliott's fans go to Taylor in droves. McPrincess does not deserve to win. She's had too many bad performances over the course of the season and the last few weeks. She should have gone home last week, if not sooner. It kills me that Elliott didn't have a really bad night last night, but just one where he couldn't relax. It shouldn't have been enough to get him booted, not after what we've seen of McEntitlement recently.

In case you're curious.

The biological father of Deanna Daughtry's children died. I don't know how. Chris stepped in and has adopted the youngest. I don't know about the oldest. Some speculate that he did so with the youngest because he was so small. But, since the daughter is old enough to remember her biological father he did not adopt her, although he is raising her as his. The mother of the deceased biological father adores Chris and considers him to be like a son. I have not read anything to indicate whether or not the children have different biological fathers. If so, it could be another reason he has only adopted the son. This is based on a comment he made in which he referred to the kids as his son and step-daughter. The kids are 9 and 7. Chris is only 26, so I'm thinking, "Whata guy!" I hope that he and Deanna are well prepared for the pressures that lay ahead.

Does anyone else think that's impressive?

I have to tell you, Jonny, I have a sinking feeling she's gonna win this thing. :(

Fear not :)

Now that it's down to McPhee and Taylor, Taylor (and the Soul Patrol) will crush her!

I think your feelings will be reinforced after you see the show.:(

Which is a bummer. Maybe I'm being naive, but I hate to think this show is totally contrived.

so I'll certainly get misty eyed

That's what happened to me :)

Elliot ... wow ... short of winning, he couldn't have left on a better note. This is one episode that needs to be recorded and saved--it's that good.

BOTTOM LINE, a close vote total happens when all the phone lines are maxed out. Idol has never had a phone set up that can handle such a large volume of calls. So, it ends up a virtual tie. I'm sure more votes were attempted for Taylor, but when only "x" number of votes can get through at any one moment, the results are heavily skewed by the restriction.
