McAneurysm!

LOL! I suppose it's sweet her mom and dad love her so much, but they really are over the top. I shudder to think that we might be getting all three if she wins. Ugh!

Well it showed both mayors and the governor. Can you believe that all 3 wanted to be in the spotlight with Taylor? MUST be an election year! :)

BTW, what did you think of the mayor's dancing? LOL
Well let's just say if I were his opponent I would definately make some campaign commercials with the footage. Not only can he not govern, but he can't dance either. You know he'd lose votes with that! :)

Elliot made me cry. When he was at the stadium and he drove by the soldiers he took off his cap and told them thank you!

Did he? Dang it. I miss a lot of what's going on because I'm posting on the thread during the show. I wish I'd seen that.

I am enjoying it right now -- not a problem, 友人!

As it should be. He has been the horse of this show and deserves great props.

I am not bitter about Elliott as it is my belief that he should be working with Quincy Jones, not Simon Fuller and Clive.

Yes he is..I would so love to see his mid life tour. I will always love Rush but Glenn is hard for me to miss. He is just so funny.

You should tape or tivo the show and re-watch it after the thread. That way you won't miss anything good.

But we should always remember we are a family. And we get a twice-a-week Thanksgiving where we can all get together, say some stuff, get maudlin, maybe cry a little, and at the end of the night hug each other and look forward to the next one.

I'm saving that quote too :)

I always tape a show as I'm watching it just for that reason. Can't wait to get tivo though. I'm still antiquated.

I was watching Lost, did they say who was first?

On Idol? No, only Elliot's name was revealed. But I have to believe Taylor is in first place.

Post from the Graycharles.com website

***A little applied math for what just happened***

50 million votes

Assume the order went Taylor, Kat, Elliott

33.68% of 50 million = 16.84 million (Taylor)
33.26% of 50 million = 16.63 million (Kat)
33.06% of 50 million = 16.53 million (Elliott)

Assume 10% of each contestants votes come from texting. That leaves landline voting as follows:

15.156 million (Taylor)
14.967 million (Kat)
14.877 million (Elliott)

Now, take the DialIdol busy signal percentages and compute the total number of phone calls actually made:

80% busy (Taylor)
70% busy (Kat)
70% busy (Elliott)

TOTAL LANDLINE PHONE CALLS FOR EACH CONTESTANT

75.78 million (Taylor)
49.89 million (Kat)
49.59 million (Elliott)

TOTAL PHONE CALLS AND TEXT MESSAGES ACTUALLY CAST
180.26 million

TOTAL COUNTED
50 million

Bottom line: by artificially choking the phone lines they can get ANY vote total they want (and by extension any outcome they want).

For those who still care to vote next week...

I postulate that the high call volumes basically overload the AI phone system in terms of absolute calls going through. This means that after a certain point, the three contestants’ vote totals all reach the max per phone line…hence the virtual tie.

A Taylor fan says :

"Taylor could have had twice the number of callers (potential votes — I tried calling many times and could not get through once!) as the others but it only shows up as 1/3 of the 50 mil that got through.

Next time, text if you can!"

There is a rather deep mathematical discussion at another AI board, discussing the probabilities of the vote ending up that close, and how it wasn't really that close. I forgot everything I learned in quantum physics class, but the basic premise is that the phone lines were being used to almost maximum capacity for all 3 contestants, thus there being a limit to how many actual votes were tabulated. It would explain why the busy signal percentage showed a much bigger lead for Taylor without the actual vote tally following suit. Does that make any sense?

Well.. I am pretty disapointed I really wanted Elliot to win...got to this thread too early. Here in Arizona they are just about to make the announcement. I hope that Elliot will go far.

Katherine's Dad was grinning broadly when it was announced that Eliot had been eliminated. It was really disgusting.

That shot of Daddy McPhee was from last night after his daughter sang Over the Rainbow, not when Elliot was eliminated.

Surely you weren't attempting to pass it off as such.
