MarMema, as we've been discussing, they did the identical thing for Fantasia. Here's a photo of her singing "Summertime" in Season 3. It was her "signature" performance also.

LOL!!!
Hmmm.....my local Fox affiliate just had a commercial that said, "And something totally new for American Idol fans. We'll have the scoop on what's coming your way real soon."
Wonder what that's about.

Kind of schamltzy amd diva-ish, which is not what I listen to, anyway. Probably why I never really paid attention to the show until I heard Elliott sing Stevie Wonder and was completely amazed.
My only regret was not hearing Elliott sing "You're Really Got a Hold on Me".

Hi, Wolfstar :)
Which brings me to Taylor. He is the person who deserves to win the contest this year. Whether or not he will I think depends on how much more the powers-that-be are willing to manipulate things in Katharine's favor. Let's face it, of the three, Katharine is probably the most marketable to today's shallow pop music scene. Sex sells. Beautiful females sell. The music is secondary.
McPhee won't win against Taylor. He has it locked. The only way he could possibly lose is if he doesn't show up next Tuesday night. And even then, he'd still probably win :)

I tend to agree with you on Taylor winning the thing next week, but we shouldn't underestimate the power of the schlocky pop ballad and the Idol pimpin' machine.
To: My Favorite Headache
McPhee will win this thing now that Chris is gone. Taylor has no marketing niche...Taylor has never been in the bottom group. McPhee has been there multiple times. She won't win.

(Taylor--he sings, writes his own songs, plays instruments, has charisma, and he's the whole package.)
To: Wyatt's Torch
I wonder how much she was coached.....that's just sad.Probably far more than we'll ever know. Katharine did the floor thing twice this season. Apparently the first version didn't have the desired effect, so they tried again with the much easier "Somewhere Over The Rainbow."
As I said earlier, with the exception of the songs Fantasia and Katharine sang, everything else was identical, including the huge praise from the judges.
It isn't always easy to catch the manipulation the AI producers pull. This time, for me at least, it was totally transparent.
