Yes it did. And his almost aching cry out in "Air I Breathe" almost made me cry. I am seriously tooooo emotional when it comes to those kinds of songs! Ha!

I noticed that a lot of them had that half squat, take a dump look. Yep. It's not attractive in any way and it also shuts down their vocal chords to some extent by putting pounds of downward pressure on the larynx. A superbly trained singer wouldn't do it. Paris didn't. (I remember Andrea Boccelli saing that Paris had a terrific "instrument.")
Of course, some very popular singers have hideous posture and tinny voices and make tons of money anyway. But not because of their vocal quality. There's a lot more in the popularity mix. AI is clearly not just about singing ability.

The wild card is Chris' fans -- who they vote for or against, and in what numbers.
Based on the numbers shown by zabrasearch, at least 1/2 of them are not voting. I know the 4 Chris fans in my house didn't make a single vote last night. If we would have voted, two of us would have voted for Taylor and the other 2 would have voted for Kat.

Flea'd this from the AI forums:
From zabbaserach data: Last week taylor had 12.5M votes total. This week he had 18Million. Thats a big jump. others are like this:
Katharine had 12.4M last week and 14M this week.
Elliott had 12M last week and 12.4 m this week.
Chris had 12.3 million last week.
Total votes this week went down from 49M to 44M. I guess those are a few of the chris voters dropping off.

If this is true, why didn't Elliott go home last week?

There's a lot more in the popularity mix. AI is clearly not just about singing ability. Very true. I read that Nigel said there was a record breaking over 50 million votes cast last night.

Nigel Lythgoe reported 50M votes last night-- a record for a non-final.

Total votes this week went down from 49M to 44M. I guess those are a few of the chris voters dropping off. I think that is incorrect. Look at the chart.

I think the above is bad data.
Here is the chart from the week before.

The Zabrasearch chart showed over 48 million voters last week and 44 million voters this week. Given the fact that they have shown more votes cast almost every week, that meant a lot of Chris fans didn't vote.
Anecdotely, I know that there are 4-5 Chris fans on this threa that are no longer voting, including the 4 voters in my house.
Even if total voters went up (and I'm not convinced they did), that doesn't mean a large portion of Chris' fans didn't vote. It just means that there are more people voting, and probably different people.
I've seen several posters on this thread that said that last night was the first time they've voted.
JMO, your mileage may vary.

I think that is incorrect. Look at the chart.
That chart shows 44 million voters. Last weeks chart (which you also posted) shows 48-49 million voters. By my math, it's less this week with Chris gone, even though they supposedly have more voters every week. ;-)
To: Texas2step
That chart shows 44 million voters. The chart shows 44 million before you add in the overflow for Kat and Elliot. :)
Or don't you see the blue bar going beyond their respective lines? ;)

Problem is the weekly after Tuesday interview with Nigel Lythgoe with TV WEEK tells us that the total votes last night reached about 50 Million. The greatest number of pre-final night idol votes in the show's history.

What are your thoughts on the interview with Nigel?
I found this comment interesting, "The person going home just didn't stick thier chest out like a sprinter at the end of the race."
