Howdy, Hetty :)
But in any case, although I was not impressed with his work tonight, I *am* impressed with young Yamin in general -- his God-given talent, his obvious commitment to excellence, and his genuinely nice personality. Hope he has a long and profitable career ahead of him. :)
Agree totally.
(McPhee) A *good* singer who is dedicated to her craft will work hard to link up the various voices so that all three are as even and equal as possible.
Now that you mention it, I don't think McPhee is that dedicated to singing. She's had all sorts of training and has undoubtedly been told the same thing that you told us about voices, but yet she can't seem to control her voice the way a dedicated singer should. Either she isn't able to or she doesn't care to learn how. (She may think she doesn't need to learn.) I think it's a little of both.
I wanted to support Elliott, but really, I felt that Taylor gave better performances.
That's what it comes down to. Elliot is smart and talented so there is no doubt that he has a good career ahead of him. But as far as this competition goes, I think Taylor has won it many times over.
I'm really going to miss hanging out on this thread!! Thank you, Jonny, for keeping it going. I've had the best time ever this year. :) (And even better now that I can say "poopy-head!" Woohoo! LOL!)
It is liberating, isn't it? :-D
You're welcome, Hetty. And just because Idol is ending doesn't mean you have to leave the thread. We still have that dance show coming up, ya know ;)
And thank you for all of your wonderful and witty recaps! Your comments made this thread that much more entertaining :)

Kat has a magnificent voice but is so undisciplined that bothering to learn the words is just too much to ask.
Or there is something else going on. She has a vapid look every now and then that may represent some learning difficulty.

Did you notice that she got out of synch with the band? That was why she had to rip that earpiece out -- she knew she had to forge ahead on her own time and let *them* catch up with *her*, and the sound in her ear was driving her bonkers. I actually thought it was a very good recovery. It really was--I have to give her credit for not fumbling the lyrics as she fumbled with the earpiece. And she still managed to sound the same (for better or worse) without it.

After the show Randy Jackson was on our local fox news affiliate. He was asked about that comment and he said it was meant that it was the HER best performance of the competition.

I'm saving that quote too :) LOL! You're getting some good ones in the SBR!
To: OldFriend
That may be how he meant it, but it sure didn't come across that way here!

At first I didn't like the way he spazzed around - looked like he was having seizures. LOLOL Now the ONLY move I am not fond of is his semi-squat like he is trying to pass gas. BUT he is my pick overall and has been because of his singing and his passion not to mention he is a cutie.

I am not fond of is his semi-squat like he is trying to pass gas. I noticed that he seems to be really digging deeper into the songs when he does that.
I can't wait for his CD's to start coming out!
BTW, what do they sing next week, besides the original song that they both have to sing?

Otherwise, its music theatre/modeling/movies for her where she will likely excel. My wife (trained singer) said from day one that Kat is Broadway. She said the same about Diana Digarmo in Season 3.
To: Shelayne
Oh I agree about Latoya. She was a billion times better.
