Geeze. What planet are you from? LOL Kidding of course, but never heard Springsteen's Dancing In The Dark? You need to find a way to hear it! :)
I think Taylor can do it, but again, the problem is their time restriction. Oh, and another RUMOR is that a former member of the Boss's band is playing sax. Repeat, that is just a rumor.

You're near Seattle? We lived in Kent for six years. Really liked it thereWe're very close! Just out toward Black Diamond from the Covington area. Ever go to Rooters when you were here?

Do you know if there's a more acoustical, less '80's-synthesizer version of "DITD" around? I feel really bad for Taylor if he has to do the synth version!
If he's allowed to play around with the arrangement, it could be an explosive moment on AI.

I hope he makes it BIG!!!No doubt! He'll make it big. However, it's a little unsettling to me because I find a kind of lite cockiness about Chris. Whenever someone asks him about Fuel, he talks about a band backing him up when he finally decides what to do?!
That little hint concerns me.

The thing about that Fuel offer is that it really isn't a job offer. They are only asking him if he still wants to be 'considered' along with the other applicants that they have already auditioned. I think they will back away and use the contracts as a way to do so. jmo

OKAY LET's REVIEW....
The performance order are :
1. Elliott
2. Katharine
3. Taylor
Elliott Yamin
Paula's Choice : "What You Won't Do For Love" by Bobby Caldwell
Clive's Choice : "Open Arms" By Journey
Elliott's Choice : DON'T KNOW ( apparently a Ray Charles song if I get it from the Idol boards according to his mother ).
Katharine Mcphee
Simon's Choice : "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" By Judy Garland
Clive's Choice : "I Believe I Can Fly" By R. Kelly
Kat's Choice : "God Bless the Child" BY Billie Holiday
Taylor Hicks
Randy's Choice : "You Are So Beautiful" By Joe Cocker
Clive's Choice : "Dancing In the Dark" By Bruce Springsteen
Taylor's Choice : "Try a Little Tenderness" By Otis Redding
You decide whose choices are the best for their respective persona and style...

Do we have confirmation on performance order?
Do we have confirmation on their personal choices?

Simon gives the real analysis, which should motivate and inspire the contestants to move towards what has to be done to improve their talents. Taylor doesn't need much advise and should stay exactly like he is, however what Simon is telling Taylor is concentrate on your singing and voice because that's what is going to sell records, not your dance moves...His dancing will sell concert tickets.
From Simon's POV that has to be a good piece of advice because it's what will make the performer and the bucks!
I think we have all touched on the reverse psychology idea a number of times and I, too, have been almost re-hearing some of Simons comments these past 2 weeks. I have also been thinking about how Simon has often not commented on bad vocals but more is annoyed or distracted by the dancing. And I think that is also why you often see Simon looking away from the performer because he wants to hear it as it would sound if it were a record track. Thats why he has been harsh on the dancing because, though he knows Taylors background is one of entertaining live most nights, he really does want that radio performance because radio, CDs and mp3s are the way most listeners will hear Taylor. The music videos are something that, though initially important to promote and launch a song, are less so over the long term.
The beauty of all this is that we have already got the mp3s and CDs of Taylors pre-Idol and AI work and so many posters across this site and others have admitted to liking a song much better when they heard it again after the show -especially when Bandzillas sound has sometimes made it hard to hear during the performance. If Simon has pushed Taylor I do believe it has been because he wants Taylors voice heard too - but his reasons are different! He is worried the dancing will distract some viewers. What we have seen is Taylor Unplugged - the unpolished performer in terms of how a TV/video audience perceives a singer. Simon and A.I. need to sell Taylor differently and over the weeks, his subtle makeover and his rising to the song challenges prove that the pushing might have been necessary to get Taylor out of his comfort zone so he could meet the chanllenges that the AI winner has to face.
Right now, Taylor is poised and ready to become a performer that appeals across all possible media and to the widest range of fans. The bonus for A.I. is that Taylors appeal will last much longer than the show and this season.
And my last point refers back to a post and thread where someone was asking about Taylor suggesting Soul Thing might just be a single sooner rather than later. I imagine that Taylor, as a savvy businessman, is negotiating that this be his first single release so that he can retain some artistic control over his career and also because he hopes to successfully convince A.I. that it is an original song and so can be sung on the finale show where an original song is usually aired. After all, why have someone else write a song in a few weeks for you when you already have a brilliant one you wrote yourself and that can showcase your talents? Im sure if TPTB have listened to it, they know its as strong as any they could have written for him. If this happens, I also hope Taylor gets to retain the rights. Taylor could be the first AI winner that changes how the post-AI business is done too.

Do we have confirmation on their personal choices?
The ones I've enumerated have pretty much been repeated in most blog sites and the official idol boards dedicated to the show.

If he's allowed to play around with the arrangement, it could be an explosive moment on AI.He will take this song up a degree. When Taylor is having to push his vocal he sounds GREAT!!! Just listen to, "Taking It To The Streets."
In every song Taylor leaves a signature by replacing a Melody part with a Harmony part...(2nd verse: "I ain't blind and I don't like what I think I see")
I look so forward to hearing where he does this in each song. It's really a cool little thing, and it's uniquely his own.
I am a little worried about "You Are So Beautiful" because there is nothing to fall back on in that song...It is completely raw, he should nail those notes.

The blog's also said that Clive picked Walking in Memphis for Taylor, didn't they?

Our best bet are the moles that creep out of the rehearsal tonight in a couple of hours. They will have all the songs and the order for us!
To: SirLinksalot
Boy, you give a excellent analysis! There is nothing I could add...It sums up my thoughts perfectly.
Maybe Taylor ought to write a song called "The Reverse Psych Blues", Thanks!

The thing about that Fuel offer is that it really isn't a job offer.Really? I didn't realize that, I thought he had the spot if he wanted it...Good info.
Personally, I think he ought to put his own band together and go from there. People will buy the CD not only because they like him, but because they will be curious about what he has to offer.

EDIT TO ADD... According to MJs BIG BLOG (definitive site for AI song spoilers ), Latest Elliott Yamin rumor regarding his personal song choice: Reliable sources are claiming that it's "I Believe to My Soul" by Ray Charles.

I know Kat has extensions. If you go to the American Idol style pages, they talk hair/clothes/make-up, etc. That's where they mentioned Kat's extensions.
