I think "Paula Abdul" and "Simon Cowell" both signed. LOL!

Vote for the Worst totally spammed that petition. They had an entire message board dedicated to it. I was crying I was laughing so hard. My favorite signature:

Does Simon have it in for Kat?

"Hey Senator, rumor is that Kat might be singing Over the Rainbow (Simon's pick) You like that one?"It could work for her. Or we could all end up feeling like that witch who had a house fall on her.
I just home she doesn't end up reciting "there's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's..."

Simon is screwing her with that song. How many high school plays have had some precocious kid singing that song? Judy Garland was a talented woman but the song flies in the face of everything he pushes these people to do in the realm of originality.
Sing it like Judy and by default it has to be karaoke. Do something different and you are messing with a piece of Americana. Miss the notes (which I suspect will happen based on past performances) and she gets compared to a high school kid.
Bahhh!

Do ya think they got "President Bush" to sign it yet, or has that already been done too?
I also wonder if Elvis signed it?

OVER THE RAINBOW is a great song to showcase range, emotion (the emotion of 'longing' for instance) and power.
You can make it your own as the late, great Eva Cassidy did. And if you know Kat, she likes to do those melismatic vocal variations.
Also, Kat is a theatrical kinda girl and this song is PERFECT for her backround.
My only reservation is it has been performed TWICE in AI before, BOTH GREAT !
Tamyra Gray did Eva Cassidy's arrangement in season 1 and Kim Locke absolutely OWNED the song in season 2. I wonder how much more Kat can do to this classic....(one of my all time faves).

Even if she performed that song a lot at her high school?

Elvis signed one of the petitions, but for reason his was voided.

"Simon is screwing her with that song"Agree with that, and agree with SirLinksalot's analysis.
To: Senator Goldwater
Maybe its like with Randy giving Taylor, Cocker's 'You Are So Beautiful, to see what he can do with it. Simon just wants to see what Katharine can do with 'Over The Rainbow'.

"Even if she performed that song a lot at her high school?"I'll resist the urge to mention that a high school named Notre Dame might require plaid skirts with high socks.
To: Senator Goldwater
There's something risque about 'Over the Rainbow'? Maybe it was the conservatory that she went to school at? Think that's possible? I'll see if I find more info.

from MJ's
I also heard Kat sang "Over the Rainbow" and "God Bless the Child" at her high school. Some person on MJ's said she surprisingly didn't oversing OTR when she performed there.
Also, this comment was on MJ's:
Quote:Kat said in her radio interviews that she is going back to her roots- no power ballads. She ain't going down without a fight!

STRONG INDICATOR -- Taylor will choose to sing TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS for his second song ( the song he should have sang but was not allowed to in Classic Love Song Night).
If true, ya gotta love Tay-Tay!
