My wife met him at the airport last night. The man was on cloud 9!! He got no sleep last night and yet was full of energy at the ceremony downtown and at the luncheon that Fox threw for him afterwards.
The man is pumped right now.

Fascinating interview. Taylor said at his audition that he wanted his voice heard. Ric and Bubba talking about how people from all over the world calling them means his dream has been realized. Very cool.

it would be worth the price of gas to me to drive to the Magic City to hear Hicks moan the blues.
You should hear him do an innovative Musical Blues Weather report complete with Harmonica riffs while he was home in 'bama today. Classic Taylor. Very entertaining. This is the reason why we've got to have him till the end.

If Taylor does not win this, it is not because he does not have the most fans. It is because a lot of his fans worldwide CANNOT VOTE.
By my count, his fan base covers (not including Soul Patrol in the USA ) -- Canada, Mexico, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, UK, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Holland, Germany, South Africa, Bangladesh ( new to me, heard it on the Ric and Bubba show), Malaysia, the Philippines, Hongkong, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan ( the later 3 probably mostly ex-pats ).
Win or lose, his next record (if done well ) is guaranteed to be a platinum seller.

Are those links from today's events? What a version of Jailhouse Rock! The harmonica section just rocks!

That's great to hear. I hope he knows how much some of us really love and appreciate him. I think it is an amazing thing, watching the country gravitate toward him. He is winning people over with his grace and of course, his voice. Every mother (including myself) sees a son they are proud of, teens see someone not unlike themselves giving it all he's got, and succeeding, and even those who may not like his style, have to at least admire his hard work.

Yes, that was from this morning in Birmingham. He was asked to perform with his band. He complied and gave thm 3 or 4 songs with him playing the guitar and harmonica.
His was a blues version of Jailhouse rock this time.

Awesome! I wish the volume/audio was better on those recent mp3 links, but I just have to adjust the volume. I keep replaying the Jailhouse Rock one! I wish he could have performed it that way on AI. Not exactly karaoke, eh, Simon! LMAO Hope they show him and his band doing that song on AI!!

I was sitting here imagining in my mind, the final night if it came down to Taylor and Elliott. I could be happy either way that went. Of course, I am rooting for Elliott, and how amazing that moment would be if he actually won. The underdog!!
To: Netizen
I had not listed to JHR assuming it was from the other night. That version was simply awesome. His band is 1000% better than the Bandzilla. Not even close. Taylor on the harmonica was also incredible. He is a musician. Pure and simple.
To: conservativebabe
I'm encouraged by the voting, actually.
It looks like the winner will truly be the one who sings best these next couple weeks.
Is anyone else not gambling?
I guess I'm naive ~ how superbowl has this become?

I'll do a brief report:
Downtown Richmond was crowded full of people waving signs and looking really happy to be there. Beautiful day, no clouds, perfect sunshine. He showed up for a ceremony where he was presented a key to the city. Sang the song "Home" again, changed the lyrics at the end to say, "I'm already home". Crowd liked that a lot.
He showed up 30 minutes late due in part from doing a visit to his last job where he signed autographs for kids with Juvenile Diabetes.
He had a luncheon from Fox tv station here. Mayor of Richmond, Doug Wilder was there. Lots of good looking women crashed the party wanting his autograph.
He's meeting with Big Brow Tim Kaine right now and then off to a parade and then some stuff with the Richmond Braves farm team including taking BP, Singing God Bless America and then throwing out the first pitch. He was supposed to go to a rap show in Richmond tonight but ultimately AI people wouldn't approve it. (Bow Wow is a BMG artist)
After the pitch he's likely going back to his hotel for some R&R. He flies out early tomorrow to go pick up Taylor and then back to LA to go to work.
The song Paula chose for him is Bobby Caldwell's "What You Won't Do For Love" . She's picking him as the guy she wants to win but he shouldn't feel too special given her easy nature.
He looks good but needs to eat!!!! He's very happy with all of the support. I made sure to let him know that he has impressed so many people with what he has accomplished and let him know that he has some serious groupies out there. He did tell me that between songs last week was sort of a gut check time and that he was determined to give it his best shot at crunch time.
His family is ecstatic right now.
Lastly, the crowd of people at the downtown event were full of people who absolutely love this guy. People were just talking about how happy they are and how great he makes them feel. Very, very positive scene to be around.
Good for him

RUMOR
Don't know if anybody posted this yet, but Elliot's song was chosen by Paula. She picked Bobby Caldwell's "What you won't do for love"

I hope they all have a good Tuesday, that'll make it very interesting. I'm not a betting kind of person, but even if I was, I don't think there is any way we can really predict the winner until after Tuesday. I think you're right, it'll be all performance based in the voting from here on out.
