No, she's not. Wolfstar is one of the most thoughtful and intelligent posters on FR and a welcome contributor on this thread. Thanks Jonny. :)
LOL! I have to laugh at people who simply cannot (or will not) discuss their opinions without resorting to insults. FR is totally infected with this "disease" these days. Perhaps all of society is, but it's such a weak, sissy position from which to make one's case. Much stronger to say what ya gotta say, and let others draw their own conclusions instead of trying to force them to see it your way.

Part of Chris's issue is that in the entire alt-rock genre (of which I am a big fan) there is not a single solo artist that I can think of. EVERYTHING is a band. Now he's freed up to pursue just that.
To: misterrob
It was bad. Chris deserved to be handled better.
Agreed, but in fairness to Ryan, time was short and he was rushing a little overall. Plus he did warm up to Chris after asking him if he was surprised, put his arm around him, shook his head a few times and basically let the world know this was a strange decision.
So yeah, 'Crest shoulda broke the news a little slower and more tactfully, but in the end I don't think it was malicious. And no matter how it went down, people would be screaming bloody murder about the shocking result.

Ain't he something?MarMema, Elliott is a pure joy to watch and listen to these days.

BTW, re your "and blind" comment, I don't evaluate ANY of the contestants on the basis of their looks, only on how I perceive their vocal abilities. Ummm I think that that 'blind' comment indicates what they vote for. ;)

That said, I'm sorry to see Chris go. Katharine is good but she had 2 bad weeks in a row and by all rights should have gone home. Even SHE knew that. You could see it in her face during the whole show! That's for sure. She looked like a bundle of nerves. Even she was shocked she wasn't going home. Both of her songs started great, but then somewhere towards the middle went horribly awry.
Maybe it's just my inability to take much seriously, but I can't see getting so completely hostile over Chris not making it to the finals. This morning I got up and life as I knew it was still churning. The homeland security threat level hadn't even been raised. If by some circumstance Kat wins, then God bless her. She's not my fav, but life will go on.

You thought he was going to be serious and he broke out with: So how come you Chris fans didn't vote to keep him on the show! Good job! He put the blame squarely where it belongs.

With Cowell's stake in this I would have assumed he would know. $36 million a year makes you a wheel.
No matter.
And, no, there is still a conspiracy afoot against Chris
brought about by the tri-lateral interests backed by the CFR and financed by Haliburton.
NO BLOOD FOR OIL!!!

Funny ... I thought this was a talent contest. Taylor has personality in capital letters but he doesn't have the commercial talent to complete the entire package. I'm still stunned with last nights results.

Last I heard Fuel is looking for a new lead singer.

Watching that again, I feel the need to defend Ryan some more, to be his "beard", if you will ;) After the announcement, he went on to call Chris a "star" several times and clearly conveyed surprise at the result. So it wasn't like Ryan was trying to be an ass or anything.

Kat cannot sing power tunes like Kelly Clarkson and she cannot handle big balads like a Mariah Carey, Where does that leave her? There is plenty of room between Mariah Carey and Kelly Clarkson. Kat just needs to settle down on a music style that suits her best. Unfortunately, the music business guys don't look at it that way. They will have her doing rap if they think that is what will sell. If it was up to me I would have her sing cross-over classical. That is really the style that suits her voice best. To bad the TeenyBoppers are not big fans of that genre. It is very much under-populated style right now - we have Sarah Brightman & Andrea Bocelli and then it gets pretty thin.

People simply do not act rationally around this show. And you know it.

I think she'll be great in a recording studio, but she really needs to work on her live performances.
I agree, completely. She'll record fine. But, she needs much better coaching/training for live performances, and she needs someone to help her pick songs.
To: Wyatt's Torch
People like Chris need guitars and drums and music behind them. I am also a rock music fan and like some of the current "alt-rock" stuff but I think it is all sounding too similar.
I agree Chris is not a solo artist and that is not a dig at him.

Seriously, hopefully this will at least put the conspiracy theories to bed.
Well, it tucked my theories in, since I was sure a couple of weeks ago that AI was setting it up for a Chris/Kat finale. Now we have a new set of theories from the Chris Crowd claiming Taylor is the CO.
Bottom line, I suppose, is that AI does do some manipulating, but with the end of keeping viewers tuned in and selling ad time. That's why I think they made it look like Taylor was giving a swan song last night. Vote totals are leaked early now and seem to be accurate. So they needed people to think someone other than the actual bottom two might be in trouble.
To: Texas2step
The way I see it breaking down, depnding on who is left standing next week:
- Katharine vs. Taylor -- no contest, Taylor picks up the majority of Elliott's voters and wins in a landslide
- Elliott vs. Taylor -- Elliott has done a good job picking up steam, and the voters from the departing contestants. Will it be enough to overtake Taylor's (assumed) lead?
- Elliott vs. Katharine -- the most unlikely scenario, it will show both have serious momentum. This might actually come down to who performs better.

Funny ... I thought this was a talent contest. Taylor has personality in capital letters but he doesn't have the commercial talent to complete the entire package. I'm still stunned with last nights results. It isn't a talent contest, any more than one could claim the current chart-topping artists are the "most talented" ones available. Reality is, it takes a combination of natural ability, charisma, and looks to win in life and on this show.
