People vote for whichever contestant 'touches' them in some way.
My son in law favored Ace because he too grew up in Colorado with a big family of boys who pretty much got into every kind of mischief. He related to Ace.
Can't figure out why my daughter likes Chris, but then she liked Bucky's voice too.
Me, I'm an old lady who gets a big smile on my face when Taylor performs.
I am no judge of talent at all and thankfully, there are choices so we can all be happy with whomever we choose.
I don't denigrate the choice of other people, nor do I attack the contestants.
I wish them well, everyone of them.

Then Ryan says, "A lot of people predicted, both of you could be in our finale. A lot of people predicted that Chris, that you could be the next American Idol." Chris is smiling. But then Ryan quickly adds, "Chris, you are going home tonight." Chris's face suddenly falls. He is truly shocked. Katharine is utterly shocked. Paula has her head in her hands. Simon looks just pale and speechless, twidling his fingers under his chin in disbelief. The looks on the judges were just priceless!
Katharine makes her way to the couch and a look of relief washes over her face. Ryan asks Chris if he's in shock, "uh, I'm a little bit in shock," he says. And he really is. After Chris's bad day montage, he gets a half-minute sing out ( which will guarantee that his fans are going to be pi ssed at Taylor for hogging the time ).
I have read posts like that already.
Maybe AI is just rying to be unpredictable, os they let Taylor sing. Kellie didn't get to sing and a LOT of them have been getting cut. Remember when everyone was saying why oh why do they make them sing after being cut. Its mean to amke them sing when their hearts must be breaking. Remember?
Unfortunately, what I just descrined about Chris WILL APPLY TO Taylor as well. That is why as much as I am a fan of his, I want him to go next week.
At one of the Taylor Hicks fan sites his brother Sean said that Taylor wants to win. I'll let Taylor be the judge of what he thinks is best for him.

IMO, the days of angry young men are long gone. It's not attractive, nor of interest to an old broad like me.
Yup, if I had my druthers, I would choose rainbows and lollipops.....have had enough hard times in my life.

LOL......I'm a nearly 70 something. I love Taylor but I still use my landline phone to dial in to vote for him.
Imagine my happiness when he actually recorded a thank you for voting for him!!!!
Doesn't take much to get an old lady smiling.

I think your analysis is good but it's missing something, the impact of voters who's previous fans left the show. Chris' fan base maxed out. He was not going to acquire much from departed contestants save for teeny boppers and middle aged woman who like to drool over the "Bad Boy' but would never buy his music. (Just like men who vote Kat but would get laughed at hard by their friends for listening to that type of artist).
In the end Chris is much better off by leaving now. He can say I never sold out, I didn't fit in and damn, I'm a rebel who set the thing on its ear.
And, he should have kicked Seacrest's ass on tv last night. Major disrespect.

"I second that."
I third that too! I've been debating some kool-aid drinking conservatives who actually are going to VOTE for Hillary as a "wake up call" for the GOP. WHAT?? Wake up call? You can't wake up after they kill you!
That said, I'm sorry to see Chris go. Katharine is good but she had 2 bad weeks in a row and by all rights should have gone home. Even SHE knew that. You could see it in her face during the whole show!
Glenn Beck was great today. He opened the show with the quote: "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing"
You thought he was going to be serious and he broke out with: So how come you Chris fans didn't vote to keep him on the show!
It was great.

There are swing voters out there each week much like in any election. They tip the balance by favoring someone or staying home on a bad week.
Kat cannot sing power tunes like Kelly Clarkson and she cannot handle big balads like a Mariah Carey, Where does that leave her?
Taylor is going to be like Jimmy Buffet in my opinion. He will have a solid base of fans and life will be a big party.
If Elliott does his stuff right, he could have a long career as a singer in his genre of Adult contemporary and lighter R&B and Jazz.

He dropped the news on him in an abrupt fashion. Has the contestants split into two groups. Works the drama, tells Elliott and Taylor they are safe. Looks at Kat and Chris, tells Chris that America thought Chris would be the next AI, then tells him he is going home. No finesse, no 'sorry to break the news' no compassion, nada.
Chris looked like a guy who just found out his wife was sleeping around.
Seacrest asks him if he was surprised.....
It was bad. Chris deserved to be handled better.

The look on Simon's face was one of big surprise..... pursed lips and shock.
But, but, but, I thought the judges knew the vote totals. Ya know, the big AI conspiracy to get Chris and Kat in the finals. Oh, that's not working real well, now, is it?
Seriously, hopefully this will at least put the conspiracy theories to bed.
To: misterrob
2) Some will go to Kat simply because they are mad at Taylor and believe me, there is anger (again, A TV SHOW FOLKS) there. Yeah, I don't understand their thinking. I guess, Taylor must have kicked Chris in the groin Tuesday night and I missed it. /sarcasm
Working for 19 E means you need to wear a short skirt, 4 inch heels and stand on the street corner.
Yes, I saw Carrie wearing her hooker garments to pick up her awards. /sarcasm

I see.....you're Deaf and Blind. Why do you feel the need to be personally insulting? You like Katharine. Fine. I don't. It's called entertainment and opinion about that entertainment.
BTW, re your "and blind" comment, I don't evaluate ANY of the contestants on the basis of their looks, only on how I perceive their vocal abilities.

BTW, is that story right about Mr. Aiken swinging the other way?LOL! I sure don't know. I give Clay credit for doing a lot of charitable work.

If this accurate then Taylor has it won as I believe he will be the benefactor of Chris leaving.

Paris Bennett was on with Glen Beck the other day. He commented on her mickeymouse voice and suddenly, there she was, talking like a grownup. I suspect that baby voice was something she invented about herself. It did her no good and I have a feeling it's gone forever. It always seemed to me that she was trying to talk like Fantasia.
