No, she doesn't. She cannot control her voice at high range and her low notes are not good either. She's got a niche that she fits into but for some reason insists on singing songs that are beyond her means. I don't mind Chris at all and his Suspicious Minds was very well done. That said, his style of music belongs in a band where it's not just about him. No shame in that either.
She was already under the table by the time he got to that song so it wouldn't have mattered anyway.
She was stunning last night, particularly when she walked out on stage for her second song--wow. Her smile, her hair, the seductive look in her eyes--all perfect :o
It's a shame her song wasn't, though.
We hold it against them when they don't.
And that's about the only thing I wouldn't hold against Katherine.
Kat and Chris are within the margin of error, but if he ends up leaving, then apparently Chris split the vote among the guys and Katherine picked up the Kellie and Paris votes.
As a Kat fan, she had a rough night. Both songs were potentially very entertaining, but she delivered uneven performances. I'd like to see her get another chance, but forgetting lyrics alongside the other three smooth performers at this point is very dangerous.
If Kat survives, I'll be relieved for her. But Chris fans will feel completely jobbed and she might get a backlash as his [primarily female] fan base becomes anti-Kat the rest of the way out, if they aren't already.
"Elliott was magnificent..the best"
"Women don't like Kat because she's gorgeous, stunning. It's jealousy, the reason why they don['t vote for her.."
(McPhee) I kept wondering what do the guest coaches hear that we don't? Does she sound different live? Is she more relaxed? More toned down?
I think she is more relaxed in the rehearsals. But when she's performing live ... I don't know. Maybe she's nervous and wants to hide that by singing too loud or by being overly dramatic.
(Taylor's "In The Ghetto") What would you say the beat of the arrangement was? Latin? Carribbean?
LOL! I noticed that too. You're right, the arrangement was too upbeat for a song like that.
(Elliot) If we had a 'Chicken Little' this season, we also had an 'Ugly Duckling' who is turning into quite the magnificent swan.
Very nicely said :)
LOL
Never mind that women don't listen with their crotches. ;)
Very astute. Can't wait to see who goes. :)
yes it was a compliment....i love AI but this thread has added even more fun to the show!
I'd give my eyeteeth to see him....I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't end up doing a show over at LuLu's (in Gulf Shores) since they have either the Tues or Wed party (alternating each week with another place in Orange Beach)....and both places are packed....LuLu's is owned by Jimmy Buffett's sister. I might just have to take a trek if he plays there after the season ends...
I'm just sort of jumping around this morning and when I read your's there's no doubt the subject is Fantazia....I never, ever liked her - she turned me off with her first smart-a$$ comment regarding her lips..."I may have big lips, but I've got a big voice also" or something like that! Hey, I think I just proved I'm not an old fogie - I can remember things from two seasons ago!
1. Elliott: I was not familiar with the first song Elliott sung, but I thought he was rock solid with it. Strong vocals, a heartfelt rendition. Could be a disadvantage that the song was not well known. I am very much in agreement with the judges on his second song. Strong rendition of "Trouble". Great range, clear he put his best effort into this song. Head of the class is where Elliott sits for at least this show. Should have sung "Its Now or Never". He would have hit that song out of the park and it is a song made for his voice.
2. Taylor: OK on his first song. I probably tend to more agree with Simon's assessment than disagree with him. I do think he was a little harsh, but I do not think it is unreasonable. Fact is, Taylor is not a good enough dancer for him to allow his dancing to detract from his vocals. "In the Ghetto" was a song I was glad to hear him perform. While it was not as emotional a rendition as I thought I would have heard from him, it was very good and should allow him to cruise into next week. May end up being the top vote getter, but was not the top performer this week.
3. Chris: He was fairly bland on a night on which he should have shined. "Suspicious Minds" was good, not great. Probably better than Taylor's first song. "A Little Less Conversation" was perhaps his weakest performance in several weeks and puts him in jeopardy tonight. I'll never understand while these Idol singers continue to try to perform live songs that require the singing of low notes. Almost without fail, these folks struggle with the low stuff, which when done improperly can be more painful to listen to than screechy high stuff. On balance, he was much better than Katherine, but it may not be enough. Should have gone with "Love Me Tender" to bolster a solid first song.
4. Katherine: Quite simply, she was way out of her league this week. Without a doubt, she SHOULD be the one to go home, but because Chris was rather weak, she may have caught a break. Her medley of "Hound Dog" and "All Shook Up" was just poor. Barely better than one would see at a high school choir pop show. "Can't Help Falling in Love" was better, but only marginally so. Her performance should not be good enough to get her through.
Should be an interesting vote. Hopefully the order is as above, but I really thought after his two performances yesterday, Chris put himself on the block. Katherine should go, but Chris left the door open for him to enter through.
Simon is getting too snarky and his SHUT UP to Paula was over the top.
This week it's definitely time for Simon to be voted OFF the show.
With regards to your comment on Taylor, I would almost agree with you except a couple of weeks ago someone posted a link to his performance that week...I listened to it to see how I would feel since I couldn't see him and to be honest, I love him...and in fact, I prefer just listening to his voice without the spasms....for sure I can't wait to get his CD. Heck, I've about worn out my Michael McDonald ones since this show has started because he really reminds me of him (meaning Taylor reminds me of McDonald)...I think the cold medicine is messing with my brain!
Raw talent will get her started but someone to really teach her the way to use her voice will make it so we are hearing her songs for a long long time.
If Motola takes her on, she's going to be a STAR!
She surely does have a world more potential than Britney the poptart but needs someone to take charge of her voice.
Chicken Little irked my last nerve! It was a relief when he was gone.
