That's so funny you found a picture!

It's amazing someone gets paid to come up with ideas like "American Idol" toothpaste.

"Now you can have that Clay Aiken smile!" LOL!!

Years ago Chelsea Clinton met some princess from who knows where. There was this picture circulating around where she was talking to the princess and making this crazy face. It looked just like that face Kat is making!!

Loved, loved loved the ending. Contestants should be allowed to play instruments on AI. It would separate the singers from the musicians in a big fat hurry.

Gray Charles now has the rehersal for TITTStreets up. Completely different. Wails on the harp a little more at the end. He never performs a song the same way twice.

I think so too. But the singers would claim it wasn't fair. That their voice IS their "instrument". Personally I'd like to see them write at least one song themselves. But I doubt it will ever happen.

Let them write their debut song. At least the words.

LOOKS LIKE AT LEAST 4 IDOL CONTESTANTS HAVE CRACKED THE BILLBOARD 100.

http://top40.about.com/b/a/208135.htm#

Chris Daughtry is First American Idol to the Pop Top 40

This year's American Idol finale may have come down to Taylor Hicks vs. Katharine McPhee, but neither is the first to make it to the top 40 on the Billboard pop singles chart. The fact that season 5 may have been the richest American Idol season in terms of talent is abundantly displayed this week as 4 of the competitors debut on this week's Pop Top 100.

The highest position is Chris Daughtry's #37 placing with his version of "Wanted Dead or Alive", a #7 pop hit for Bon Jovi back in 1987. His high debut is propelled primarily by a #16 opening in online digital track sales. Taylor Hicks can gain some consolation by a debut at #21 on the Adult Contemporary chart for his upcoming single "Do I Make You Proud." This week's Pop Top 100 chart appearances for all 4 "Idols":

* #37 - Chris Daughtry - "Wanted Dead or Alive"
* #53 - Taylor Hicks - "Takin' It to the Streets"
* #73 - Elliott Yamin - "Moody's Mood for Love"
* #90 - Katharine McPhee - "Think"

The coming year could be one of the hottest yet for American Idol related music.

TAYLOR AND CHRIS: When last we checked, 18 “American Idol” contestants had charted in Billboard. This week, that total increases to 20, as the first finalists from season five to make their chart debuts join the crowd.

Surprisingly, the “Idol” with the highest new entry on the Billboard Hot 100 is not the winner, Taylor Hicks, nor the runner-up, Katharine McPhee. It’s the man many people suspected would walk away with the title this season. Chris Daughtry, shockingly voted off in fourth place, earns Hot Shot Debut honors with his version of Bon Jovi’s 1987 hit, “Wanted Dead or Alive.” The track from the “American Idol Season 5: Encores” CD enters at No. 43.

Another track from that album also bows on the Hot 100. Hicks’ rendition of the Doobie Brothers’ 1976 single “Takin’ It to the Streets” is new at No. 69. This is the first time in five seasons that the person crowned “American Idol” has not first appeared on the Hot 100 with a song from the finale. The song given to Hicks, “Do I Make You Proud” (Arista), does make its debut on another chart, entering the Adult Contemporary tally at No. 21, and should show up on the Hot 100 as soon as sales kick in.

The AC chart is home to a number of Idols this week, with Bo Bice enjoying radio airplay with “The Real Thing” and Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood each having two songs on the list. Even with Daughtry and Hicks showing up on the Hot 100, the third season of “American Idol” has produced the highest number of charted Idols.

Here is a breakdown by season:

Season one: (five)
Kelly Clarkson
Justin Guarini
Tamyra Gray
R.J. Helton
Jim Verraros

Season two: (four)
Ruben Studdard
Clay Aiken
Kimberley Locke
Josh Gracin

Season three: (six)
Fantasia
Diana DeGarmo
Jasmine Trias
LaToya London
George Huff
John Stevens

Season four: (two)
Carrie Underwood
Bo Bice

Season five: (two)
Taylor Hicks
Chris Daughtry

That adds up to 19, but one non-finalist has also charted. “American Idol” wannabe William Hung parlayed his failure to pass the audition into a successful career — which has included charting in Billboard.

TAYLOR AND SIMON: Taylor Hicks isn’t the only Taylor with a new entry on the Adult Contemporary chart this week. After a 17-year absence, Livingston Taylor returns at No. 39 with “Best of Friends” (Chesky), a duet with his former sister-in-law, Carly Simon. It’s uncanny listening to Taylor and Simon collaborate on “Best of Friends,” as Liv sounds so much like his brother, James. Carly and James had hits with remakes of Inez and Charlie Foxx’s “Mockingbird” and the Everly Brothers’ “Devoted to You.”

“Best of Friends” is the sixth Livingston Taylor song to appear on the AC list over a period of 27 years, seven months and one week, counting back to Taylor’s debut in November 1978 with “I Will Be in Love With You.” Taylor’s biggest hit to date is “I’ll Come Running,” No. 8 in 1979.

Simon peaked at No. 6 on the AC chart in December 2005 with “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” Her last non-holiday AC hit was “Love of My Life,” No. 16 in June 1992. “Best of Friends” is her 28th AC chart entry over 35 years, one month and one week, dating back to the debut single “That’s the Way I’ve Always Heard It Should Be” in May 1971.

Television: Taylor Hicks: Everybody’s Favorite Idol

Sasha Stone

Mirror TV Critic

Nearly a week after the miraculous American Idol finale which handed the top prize to the charismatic but odd Taylor Hicks, it has become apparent that many people out there claim Taylor as their “favorite.” This is a gross distortion of the facts as I know them. After all, I spotted him first. He was my favorite from the beginning. And I’m not giving that up for anything, people.

There have been Idol winners in the past who truly deserved to win – Kelly Clarkson, of course, and Fantasia Barrino. But Taylor was different from all of them. For once, a contestant with not only real soul in his heart but some real knowledge of music history and taste for what is a good song and what is a forgettable one.

From the moment he walked into the audition room, harmonica in hand, grey hair on top and a kind of twitchy way of moving and speaking – it seemed clear that Hicks was destined for ridicule and a hasty Idol exit. He was already a singer but not a successful one. What about him seemed marketable? Nothing. He was unlike any contestant to ever appear in the contest. But what a voice.

The day of the Idol finale, people around town were buzzing about the contest. Two women at a Coffee Bean were adamant: “He better win” one said to the other. And when I turned and said “Soul Patrol” they gave a whoop and a cheer.

You have to love a contest where people can speak up for what we like most rather than always taking what the record companies decide we want. What record executive would have even listened to or considered Hicks if he hadn’t been so popular on American Idol? For one thing, early on, no one could figure out what was going with him – an amazing singer, a strange way of moving and talking – finally being lampooned on Saturday Night Live. What was the deal?

Turned out, it didn’t matter what the deal was. If Hicks was an autistic savant or someone on the spectrum, no one seemed to think twice about it. If he was a white Ray Charles, no one ever called him out. The truth about him was that you couldn’t take your eyes off of him from the moment he appeared on camera. He was the only contestant who got the idea that music and performing is about connecting with the audience. He was the only one who sang songs that made you want to hum them all day long. (How many of you had to go and listen to Elton John’s “Levon” after Hicks sang it?)

But let’s get this straight, folks. I saw him first! Hicks was the only contestant I ever voted for consistently from week one. He was the only reason I tuned in week after week and he is the only contestant, aside from perhaps Barrino, to make the Idol competition seem like more worthwhile than the silliness it’s been in the past few years. Finally, he is the only Idol whose CD I will happily buy and not be embarrassed to play it, and sing to it, in my car.

Could it be that Americans aren’t as stupid as everyone’s been saying? Could it be that we actually do know what we’re doing in picking our American Idol? That we don’t like them cocky or dynamic or hip and trendy, but rather kind and honest and singing from the heart type? Or could it be that Taylor Hicks just needed an audience and the magic was all his. Stay away from him! He’s mine!

Question: Why is Kat going everywhere with Taylor? I might have missed i in previoius years but did the #2 do this many joint appearances with the winner?
