Take it up with Flamer, most his so called list of lies are actually him lying. He even has listed that calling Stallman a leftist is a lie, how funny is that!

OUT

These lies have been going on the last couple of years...

There you go again, calling them lies. Unsubstantiated rumors are not lies without the necessary element of intent (to disseminate known falsehoods). You've got no proof of intent.

You have my applause calling them bullshit, if you know them to be false.

But a lie is an intentional act.

Brave Sir Robin ran away.
Bravely ran away, away!
When danger reared its ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
And gallantly he chickened out.
Bravely taking to his feet
He beat a very brave retreat,
Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin!

Isn't that the Dan Rather school of journalism? I can't prove it but I'll print it anyway.

The author has an interesting history. His real name is Mark Stephens. There is no Robert X. Cringely. Several different people have written a column under that pseudonym for InfoWorld magazine over the years, and Stephens was the longest lasting of those Cringelys. Infoworld sued him for continuing to use the name after they fired him. He is still permitted to use the name, except when writing for computer publications.

As for why PBS would hire him... He is still not rich, after having lived a good portion of his life rubbing shoulders with people who became exceedingly rich. He claims to have been employee number 12 at Apple, and is said to have refused Steve Jobs' offer of Apple stock, preferring to earn $6/hour instead. This gives him the perfect anti-capitalist temperament for PBS -- so perfect that they did not dump him when it was disclosed that he had only been a TA at Stanford, and not a professor as he had claimed.

Back in 1995, it's too bad you couldn't convice JimRob Since Nov 28, 1997 & John Since Jan 18, 1998 to use Windows servers for FR.

Irony of bashing open systems on a forum that runs open systems. I can't believe these threads are still going.....

well, you've shown time after time that it is not your purpose to clear anything up, it's to constantly spew crap in the forum that someone will feel the need to answer. You're a useless freaking troll. I've seen your kind on the net for more than 15 years.

You and everything you say is completely irrelevant.

Anyone who reads these threads regularly knows that. We have to keep pointing it out to newbies though, because they might not be familiar with your worthless type.

Perhaps that's why they sold the personal computer division to Lenovo. No more dealing with Windows and Office licenses

Ya, could be. THe margins might not have been up to snuff for them either. The PC business is pretty cutthroat, and for a company like IBM that's not necessarily content with just using other folk's motherboard, there can be a fair bit of R&D involved. I'm guessing they figured their money was better spent elsewhere.

Personally, I don't particularly like the decision, but then again, they didn't ask me :-)

I love thinkpads, but no Lenovo for me. Of course, I usually buy eBay "handyman specials" from an earlier era, so there are still plenty of IBM thinkpads to fulfill my shopping needs.

RC,

Data preservation is one of several important reasons I support open document standards. An intellegently designed and open data format can be incredibly easy to move from one platform to  another.

hey sure are using it. As are all socialists and leftists."

Sounds to me like the resident troll is calling JimRob a "socialist and leftist".

You have become a laughingstock.

Yes, but you can see that the troll has almost singlehandedly stopped discussion the thread started with.

That's its main purpose, and even when everyone knows the troll is full of crap, it is still often sucessful.

Greater anti-troll scrutiny of Golden Eagle would seem to be order.

When the demand is put to him to sharpen his rhetoric, and he can obfuscate no more, he has but one reply:

Commies if you ask me

I didn't, and I started the thread. I am a new poster, and I confessed that after reading your stuff, I searched all over FR to see if the "owner" of a thread had the ability to ban posts from certain members.

Turns out I don't own it just b/c I start it, and I don't want to begin my time with FR complaining to a moderator like a whining child.

However, you should know that you are really obnoxious, and bear all the marks of an internet crank. Thanks for ruining this thread. I see that you have hijacked a few others in your past. This will be my last (as well as first!) post to you. I have no desire to mud wrestle. You should know that you are really pathetic.

No, I'm exposing the BS threads you boys keep creating, just as I have shown, and there are many. Cut out the lies and you probably won't hear from me at all.

Not at all, I already told you even I use Linux, I don't have much problem with those who simply use it for practical purposes, the problem is those that lie on it's behalf almost each and every day of their lives.

My mama died in 1999.

I pinged the mods because Free Republic polices itself.
