Sometimes, we write late at night. It's when the muse moves.

Can you believe that I just came up with that today?!
Sure, I can believe it. Happens for me, also.

Be very careful about that "laid" in the afternoon stuff.

LOL! How did you guess? My intention was to post to you at 9 am...believe it or not. This pelikan likes to sleep curled up in her nest. Leave that one-legged business to the flamingos!

I notice you have an unusual spelling for pelican-you use the (kan.) Your invention I would guess.

Okay, here's a poem for a pelikan.

The pelikan is widely known
for their wide mouth
and the color brown.

A huge gullet can be found
dangling nearly to the ground.

The pelikan catches fish
with their long beak
then stashes the fish
in the gullet near the ground.

Now I know this doesn't make
sense, but a pelikan is
not too, romantic you see
at least that's my humble opinion

for what it's worth
a pelikan should make
a wish for lots of fish

for romance is always in
the background when
sounds of slapping fish is
around. ;)

LOL! This is very witty, Ms Feather! I love it! I am sure when Unc see this he will happily add his two cents. All lies, of course!

for romance is always in the background when sounds of slapping fish is around.

Bwhahahahahahaha!

Pelican Jack

He’s an old mariner he is,
wit dat belly rolling walk, ‘n a swagger,
says he’s been dere 'n seen dat!

Storm veteran, wave rider, known thief n’ liar
nere a day sick, ‘cept on some bad fish,
‘n tough ‘nough ta own da whole pier!

Tain’t afeared o’storm ‘er lack a wind,
nor shallow shoals ‘er reefs aplenty,
he’ll find his way, of dat you c’n bet a roll fat.

Wise his ol’eyes, is seen it all from deck ‘er higher,
n’ ya can bets dere’s many n’ unspoken wish,
fer a following sea n' fresh fish so dear.

So salty he might as well be war’n a set afins,
n’ striding a deck wid his own mug a sailor’s tea,
fer he’s been dere, n’ I cans swears ta that!

As promised, one of the weird poems I have written.

One Abstract Night

My abstract painting came to life
one dark depressing night.

Deformed figures walked around
the room as in a B grade vampire movie.

It was so funny, I had to laugh
as floppy clocks began to dance.

Strange slices of someone's bad
dream, moaned
skeletons creaked and rattled.

Odd birds walked on the ceiling
bull oxen crowed.

Creatures from mythology, animated,
running backward.

One eyed lizards darted about madly
being chased by giant termites.

Huge blue clouds spoke in falsetto voices.
Of thee I sing, ran through my mind.
Flat rock roared thunder through the creek--
I jumped up awakened before falling into the gorge.

A slice of life.

Riding Horses

Riding Horses
I do not dare
such mighty
animals full
of power
do scare

I love to look at them
with awe
and often
wish I had
the gall
to climb
on ones back
sit very tall
and ride the
winds above
the noise
to sit there
very poised
and show

nay, I'm not
afraid of
you at all.

One Abstract Night

Now this is interesting, and all to much like one of my dreams after coming back to the ship from a rather 'spirited' liberty call! You have a good eye for the odd, (probably why you let me in here. ;^) while not quite a one-eyed lizard, I'm still fit for spooky dreams.)

Riding Horses

I would love to teach you the gentleness of horses, and the fun of finding that partnership with one that makes riding such a delight. (I would also make sure you didn't get one like my old Morgan, a damn fine mountain horse and a cutting horse without peer, but with a propensity to bite that earned him his name S.O.B.!) Gentle giants that will nuzzle you for that sugarcube hidden in a pocket, or come to the fence just to share a moment and a pat.
