Oh what wonderful stories. Brought a needed smile to my face.
I'm so sorry for you and her both. I imagine she had been abused at some point and just couldn't quite trust enough.
I've got two females now. They do have different personalities don't they. And they won't tolerate any nonsense from dogs either (or kids).
Hey, you loved her and showed her kindness. That counts for something.
Well, I don't know about the love part but I do like animals, esp dogs:') I sometimes foster "special" strays and find them homes.
Well, what I mean is, you showed her love. Probably more than she had had recently. And she was reciprocating with that waggy tail . . . you just couldn't quite bring her in. But all you can do is try.
Yeah. Thanks.
Wow! So that's probably what your kids saw, huh? Scary, yet impressive!
No, not the same. That bobcat is only about the size of an extra large cat. When my son first saw the cougar, his first thought was, "oh, a deer." That's how big that sucker was.
wow, tuffy. how did he let it go,
becky
My husband opened up the cage door and he was gone like a shot.
WOW indeed, we have a few bobcat here too, but seeing one would be a treat! I've only seen one once.
I have to ask though.... you sure that cage is heavy enough to hold a cougar in? It doesn't look like you could carry one in it... but maybe you don't plan on carrying it :~)
Hey - how are you feeling there with your one useful typing hand? Does your wrist feel better now that it's been resting?
Nah, that cage ain't big enough to hold a cougar.
A cop was over here yesterday, someone ran over our mailbox dodging another car, and he had some suggestions. One of them was to go get a wildlife camera set-up, with a motion detector, and get stills and video. Wouldn't that be fun?
How exciting. He's small though? Not a danger to your animals?
He is a danger to cats, small dogs and probably my miniature goats. The only thing I've lost so far that I'm sure got eaten was a cat. We found his remains back in the forest. He was a great cat, too. Used to jump on the horses backs from the fence. We hated to lose him.
Luckily, most of my critters stay close to the house and barn. I keep my small dogs locked up at night.
No, haven't seen him since. The cop's idea was a great one, though. Set up a camera and we should see him eventually.
Heh... who had suggestions, the cop, or the guy who took out your mailbox?
A camera would be great fun :~D
We were up in the night, yelling at our coyotes. I had just said yesterday that maybe they were gone... there's more bunnies this year than there have been in a long time. But they were back, yipping and yapping, right on the other side of the fence in the night. We didn't see them in the dark, but we ran them off. I hear them again later, but they were far away then.
