Glad you had a good ride :~D And doubly glad that the saddle seems to be working good after all. Was it just a matter of breaking it in or did you do something different?
And good to hear about Stormy.... I still think he'd probably benefit from having his teeth done. He'd sure get more value out of the feed he gets if it was chewed properly. Was she with you at the dentistry talk the other night?
No I haven't done anything different. I think there was a breaking in period..
Yes Celia was at the dentistry talk. She says she feels that since there isn't much whole grains in his poop he's OK.

Well, that's not the signs that mean anything to me... but what can we do?
Exactly:)
He spent the night here last night since she was coming back today, I feed him extra the help him thru the day:) But even looking the way he does, he handled the ride just fine too, and we did really move out today, and climbed lots of hills.

Reba... wahoo! The Texas Work Force commission application is complete and in the mail. I kid you not, it was at least 4 inches thick. 2 packs of copy paper. I wrote priceless on the contents. The guy laughed when he asked me why and I told him I had been working on it since Feb and they better not loose it. I have a copy just in case though.
Duchess, if I get my certification and I see no reason why I won't, I'm going part time in July. Hold my feet to the fire and don't let me talk myself out of it:')
We'll ride tomorrow... Supposed to be in the upper 60's - almost too hot :~D
Took some pics lunging Cyn, she was real good, very obedient, even though lunging's not ecurbh's favorite thing they did good.
The poles below are perhaps too far apart for her in this picture, and she didn't set up well for them, but the pic shows her making a heck of an effort anyway :~D
Cyn after we turned her loose, playing with the lunge whip.
Walked toward Bay with it, at which time he said "I'm out of here!" :~D
A horse carrying a whip. Now that's funny.
Cyn is really looking good. I can see lots of development in her shoulders.

Good morning everyone. Rose and I just got back from Va. last night. While passing through a small town in NC, we saw something I just had to pass on to you all. A guy was riding a full grown Brahma bull down the side of the highway. He had him saddled and bridled just like a horse. I wish we had been able to get a picture!
LOL. I'll bet that would be a sight:) Goodness, could the rider even see around the hump:)
At the ranch Jenny and I worked on they has a Longhorned Steer broke to ride. He had a ring in his nose that the reins hooked to. One of the ranch hands rode him with Jenny and I occasionaly. The horses never quite knew what to make of him and we kept a pretty good distance. He was sold to a rodeo contractor.

Rose wanted me to turn around and get a photo, but we had a large trailer and no place to turn.
If we see him again, we'll try and have the camera ready.
Nice pics, Hair and Becky. Sharn, good to hear from you and Deacon Jim.
Sun is out now, but we are suppose to get thunderstorms today. We are about 2 inches below normal on rainfall. April showers and all that. :)
Good morning :~D I hit the couch after my post and slept all the way through till morning there. Ecurbh fed horses dinner I think :~D
Thanks on Cyn... Her weight's good, and she's not exactly ~fit~ but I think she looks a lot more filled out this year than last.
Don't you just hate it when you miss those photo ops:') How's the move going?
Well I don't guess I'll ride today either. I long for my weekends and this one has been a bust. I'm furious with Walmart. I have a puffed up jaw and they closed their RX at 6 yesterday and won't open up until 11 and they won't call anyone in. 24 hour superstore acting like a bank. They won't get any more scripts from me.
I'm sorry:(

One other suggestion would be to make sure the horse is prepared for you to shoot the water pistol and it doesn't spook him. Try it at home and see if you get a reaction at all.
When I've had mildly territorial dogs bark at me or chase me, it's almost always worked for me to turn the horse on them and chase them a bit... ~Most~ don't really want a confrontation.
The other suggestion might be to see if you stopped and talked to them nicely, if they would see you as less of a threat. They may become used to you in time.
I've only had one dog that really got close enough to make contact, and I was surprised the horse didn't kick him, or do more to defend. If they're close enough to zap them with the water pistol.... go for it.
