We couldn't ask for better weather. It's been in the upper 70's and clear as a bell, with cool nights in the 40's. It always seems like the storms clear the air or something and the weather following them is unusually nice. It's supposed to be in the 80's by the weekend, so I'm really looking forward to it. I even get Friday off, since it's Good Friday. Hopefully Bluebell will turn that baby loose this weekend, otherwise I'll be taking off work one day. Babies come before work! ;o)

I've gotta share this little tidbit with you about Ellie's "haircut" yesterday evening. She was still so shaggy looking with her baby hair that I decided it was time for her to have a full-body clip. I had no idea how she would react to the big electric sheep shears, but figured now was the time to find out. I put her in the crossties and shut the barn gate to keep the other rabble-raisers from causing trouble, but I kept Tennessee in there with her as moral support. He's kinda her "nanny" anyways and it was so funny to watch him. He stood there right by her head the whole time, even though he was loose and free to move about the barn and eat hay or anything he pleased. It was almost like he was telling her "this ain't nuthin to be worried about kid". I fired up the clippers and went to work and she barely even moved. I was really suprised because they're so loud that they sound like a jet or something. I did switch to the smaller clippers to do her bridle path and around her ears and she didn't even mind that. She wouldn't let me within a foot of her ears last summer without pitching a dying fit, so I don't know what caused the change of attitude. But the funny part was that Tennessee kept sticking his head in between Ellie and the clippers, like he was saying "Do me!", so I'd clip on him a little bit, then go back to her. I think she got the impression that clipping was something good because of that and I made sure to thank him for his help with a peppermint when I got done. He's a good ol' boy!

I didn't get her all the way clipped because her hair was so thick that the clippers were getting pretty hot and I figured I wouldn't push my luck and would finish another day. She looks pretty funny right now, being clipped down the top of her back and sides, but not underneath.

Those big mondo clippers are loud. I've used em... And heavy! It's hard work, and messy work, I bet you still have hair in some crevices this morning :~D

I have something funny to share:)

Mack had an old wooden ottoman that he used till he got his new recliner. The other day when we were moving furniture, I set it in the hallway. Well, just now I turned to go down the hallway, forgot about that ottoman, and tripped over it....LOL....Oh for a picture of that:). It banged my shin pretty good, (I'll have a horrible bruise probably), but I came down with both hands and the momentum kept going so much, I tipped on over and banged my forehead on the floor...ROFLOL...it didn't hurt at all, it just was so funny as I tipped over. I've never fell like that. OOHHHHH...tears are running down my face.....thank goodness it didn't break anything, other then a small gouge in my shin.

The funny thing , when I set the darn thing there, I thought now I need to remember to move that thing or Mack will trip over it:). I don't usually go down the hall that much, he does more then me.

Heh... one minute everything's just fine, the next minute, you're fallin' into a heap!

I tripped over Homer last year and came down hard and it really hurt! Dang, it's hard to keep thinking you're cool after that.

I know, I know, I'm fallin' down on the job. I'll take one this evening. I'll have to be quick about it though, because I'm supposed to go get my own hair bobbed at 5:30, although I don't know if I'm gonna let her do it because she about scalped me last time.

Harley is shedding good, and the whole time I'm brushing him, I'm, "PUH, PUH,ing" as the hair blows in my face:)

Dang, I really think we are in for the very worst year ever for ticks. Every day for the last week at least, I've pulled at least two ticks a day off my self...just found another...

When I was out currying Bay the other day, I kept trying to turn him around to stay upwind and I still ended up covered. What can you do about ticks? More chickens? or is there a spray that works? Anything?

First off, let me say that I'm glad you weren't seriously hurt.....Now I can ROTFLMAO! I just hate it when I do stuff like that coz I can't even be mad at somebody else for doing it, I did it to myself. I'm sure Mac's glad he wasn't the one who left it there, coz he woulda probably gotten his butt chewed for it. ;o)

I LMAO too:). Even had to call Jenny and tell her about it. Mack was outside at the time, I can't tell him about it, he fusses at me when I do something like that:)

No - nor did it teach him a lesson about shadowing me. Every time I turn around he's still in the way. He really gave me a phobia about tripping over him, I was carrying laundry so I couldn't see.

I am definitly going to get more chickens. That may be my problem. I don't really like spraying especially with little kids around now playing in the yard. I know I must be getting them here at home because I just got out of the shower a few minutes ago, so It couldn't have been from riding yesterday.

I've been finding a tick or two on me every time I ride too. I think the next time I go I'm going to tuck my pants legs inside my socks and spray my pants and shoulders with OFF. The Permectrin based stuff seems to keep them killed off the horses pretty good, kinda like Frontline. It looks like I need to mix up a batch and give everybody a good spraying

Thankfully, we don't have many ticks, and I've never pulled one off me. ~shudder~

We're only a week or so away from mowing season. The path around the outside of the fence that I keep mowed almost needs it already. I'm looking forward to that, I really hate to just 'go walk' for exercise, but I LOVE walking behind the mower :~D
