You and me both. It's going to be windy here this afternoon, not bad but more then I want. I don't think the wind has let up around here since Dec. when our barn blew down.
Becky
That's a lot of cookin' :~D I'm sure they'll appreciate that :~D
I was looking at the USDA proposal and the timeline calls for it to be mandatory by January of 2009. I've already e-mailed my state representatives and and senators and asked them to do everything in their power to keep this from becoming mandatory. I plan on doing the same for my US Congressmen and Senators. This thing ain't right!
It's preposterous and I'm not sure why it's gotten the foot-hold it's already managed to get.
Not really, have to cook supper anyway, just add water to the soup:), but yes they do appreciate it:)

Because most government officials live in cities and have no idea what it takes to raise livestock. To them, it sounds like a good idea because it doesn't effect them. It's something somebody ELSE will have to do. If we think the price of our meat and dairy products are high now, just WAIT until this behemoth drives everybody out of business but the huge livestock conglomerates. And what will people like the Amish do? Hell, they don't even have a phone, much less a computer to report livestock movements, even if they were so inclined. It's just BEYOND words!
Becky,
You are a good mother too, to do all that cooking, God Bless You. What a treat for your daughter and son in law not to have to worry about dinner. Wish I was closer to my son and his wife and grand daughter so I can do that for them. Have a wonderful night.

WOO HOO! I FINALLY got my ferns! The paper they're in is still damp so I'm sure they're fine, but I don't wanna open 'em up in my office and make a mess. I'll give you an update about how they look when I get home with 'em. Thanks again! :o)
Great - glad to hear it! :~D
Didja ever get your DVDs?
Oh - yes we did! Yesterday! Thanks and sorry I forgot to mention it yesterday. Haven't had a chance to watch them yet.
I think probably part of the reason it's gotten the foothold that it has is that very few people have heard much about it other than tracking mad cow. And, unfortunately, those of us (me included) that heard about this some time back thought that no one in their right mind, even politicians, would try to implement something like this. There has been a concerted effort on the part of someone/something to make sure none of the steps implemented so far have hit the news.
Well good! I sure hope they play alright. I didn't even take the time to check, I just stuck 'em in the mail as soon as I got 'em. Be sure and let me know if they don't and I'll try again.
I think you're right. They're trying to fly it in under the radar. But that's gonna change if I have anything to say about it.
Watch the trimming video first. It would be the one that would be most relevant to Cyn. The first part of it will be a lot of anatomy but it'll help you understand the rest of it and why they do what they do. You'll see the same stuff at the beginning of the shoeing video because they were sold separately, so you can skip through that part when you get to that one. I think you'll find them to be very informative. I watch them again every time I need to go trim one of mine, just to refresh the finer points in my brain. I've found that if I give them a quick touch-up with the rasp every couple of weeks that it keeps them in better shape and it's not near the chore that it is to wait the full 6 or 8 weeks.
Congrats on your new grandson, Becky! I'm thrilled for you!
I will be out of town next week for spring break and probably won't be able to get online to chat. Hope everyone has a good week and I'll see you guys when I get back!
Beaker, I love good home produced eggs. I can't stand the mass produced ones in the stores. They just don't taste good. My grandfather had chickens so we always had home grown eggs and chicken to eat.
I'm not going anywhere for spring break, and I'm feeling kind of bummed about it, (I'm staying to work on my thesis) so I've treated myself to a weeks worth of riding lessons/practice rides. It's a "riding vacation" of sorts.
You can break and do thesis both. You just need a lap top and a beach:')
