Most of the people posting are thinking the NFL controlled it from the top, like Tagliabue ordering it, and refs are following orders. I think the refs acted alone, and as part-time employees had the motive and means to carry it out.

Now that's clear thinking!

Tagliabue was just a patsy...
...it's your big East Coast Syndicates
that called the real shots. Oh, and LBJ.

The whining of the Seahawk fans is getting out of control and is giving THEM a bad name. Yes, there were some close calls that went against Seattle. Those calls could have gone either way. You know what? There were also calls in Seattle's favor that went their way, but let's just forget those.

To say the reffing in the game was bad is one thing. To suggest that the game was "fixed" is ludicrous. Anyone who seriously believes the game was "fixed" does not have a firm grip on reality. I mean, do people really think the NFL got together with the refs before the game and told them to make sure Pittsburgh won? And for what purpose? Because the league could sell more Steeler jerseys than Seahawk jerseys? Riiiiiiiiight.

I lived in Seattle for a number of years and love the area, but the continued whining is making them look like pathetic sore losers. They had PLENTY of chances and couldn't come through. If Pittsburgh had brought their "A" game, they would have blown Seattle off the field. "Big Ben" probably had the worst SB game ever for a winning QB. As badly as Pitt played, Seattle was worse. Yet, the Seahawks seem to want to remain in denial. Holmgren was yelling at refs "It wasn't even close!" in reference to the Steelers first TD. The ball was either barely across the line or barely short. As I said, it could have gone either way, but to say it wasn't close is to be living in a false reality. Then Hasselbeck admitted that the team didn't play up to its potential but that Pittsburgh did. Laughable. Again, if the same Steeler team showed up as the one who played in their 3 previous games, they win by 3 TDs.

comparing this game to an election is idiotic at best. You do know that John Kerry and Terasah were rooting for the Steelers . :D

EVERY talk show, EVERY sportscenter, EVERY message board is FILLED with folks that want attention.

Nope, not getting under my skin.
The filthy Seagulls are untainted LOSERS!

You'll see what I mean when the Steelers repeat in Super Bowl XLI. We have a habit of doing that in Pittsburgh you know...repeat championships....it's probably the only thing we are good at anymore.

Mike Holmgren should rename himself Mike Gregoire and demand recounts, replays, and the like. Maybe, just maybe after two or three of these bitch sessions the scores will be reveresed and Seattle will be "elected" winner.

I'm not comparing this game to an election.

I'm comparing your nutty reaction to the game with the left's nutty reaction to an election. It's a perfect match.

Hope you enjoy your tainted "victory"
Sports is about all that't left that isn't political, so I'll ignore your DU reference.
I just wish the refs would let the teams on the field decide the game.
That was one of the worst Super Bowls ever, and the refs had everything to do with it.

To suggest that the game was "fixed" is ludicrous.

Normally I'd agree.

But that Polamalu call in Indy - when the NFL honchos were pimping Manning like a $1000 whore - set the stage.

I figure they reverted to the next cash cows - Bettis and Ben.

The NFL better wake up. There are serious questions regarding its legitimacy.

No, there aren't "serious" questions regarding its legitimacy. Questions? Perhaps, but not "serious" questions by "serious" people.

No taint on the victory, just on the vanquished.

It's damned entertaining though, I gotta give you that.

Well I live in Texas and couldn't give a damn who won, but for sure these officials were either biased or incompetent. There were 5 bad calls on the Seahawks that I saw and only 1 was reversed. First the touchdown. Official doesn't throw flag until player claims to be pushed. First Steeler touchdown and official does not raise hands when he sees ball cross the plane, no he waits walks toward the pile of players and then raises his hands. Usually the hands go up as soon as the ball crosses the plane. Replies clearly showed ball did not cross plain. I replayed it frame by frame. Then there was that stupid tackle call.

But at the end of the day I still think if all the calls had gone the Seahawks way they still would have lost. Steelers dominated the second half and Seahawks couldn't defend against the gadget plays or have their safety's pick up a 75+ yard run.

So despite all the drama the best team did win but it was not as close as it should have been.

yea, we dont have video evidence of the horrible pass interference call or the bad holding call, or the bad holding call on the punt return, or the horrible call on Hasslebecks tackle.

I wouldn't go so far as to say the NFL is fixed. I do think it has a serious problem with officiating competence, however, and that leads to a credibility problem in my eyes.

They are two different things.
