... the way your arrow behaves! -- Shoot!

Our three habitats are not rotating very quickly. It is easy for a launched arrow to cancel their rotational speed.

In essence, the arrow no longer "falls," simply hanging suspended until the end of the habitat comes along.

I shot an arrow into the air,
And there it stuck! Life isn't fair!
The contests should prove interesting!

Yep, this is February.

We're trying to figure out ways to entertain ourselves. Fanfan wants to get into archery. I described how we would conduct a contest.

For myself, I want to get our telescopes organized into a proper base for research. If I can develop the right configuration, we should be able to image nearby, (within 500 light-years), Earthlike planets.

It's a challenge. I'm thinking reverse engineering. That is, start with what you know is coming in to us in the way of photons and such, and design the telescopic reception according to that standard.

We have the technology. We have the opportunity. We can make it better, stronger, faster .... Ahem.

been reading up on the spin issues...
near as I can tell, the Mad Bastard will launch an arrow at about 400fps

By my calculations, even half that would be enough to cancel the artificial gravity component.
Like an artillery shell at high altitude, an arrow launched anti-spinward could easily reach the other end of the habitat -- a trajectory length only limited by the enclosure. We will have to be careful.

"I have the Tax Table."

Well, that might be entertaining, I suppose, but Mr Simson is not available to be interviewed. Perhaps he is visiting his chiropractor.

use "floo-floo" arrows - thier helical flights limit their range dramatically
