My in-laws loved their canadian geese. For several years they migrated from the north to their land on the river. They were fed and cared for, making them very numerous. Never saw so many nasty big green droppings in my life.
One year, during the summer my MIL brought home two stray dogs and let them run feral on the property. Fall and winter came as did the geese. The dogs chased the geese. The geese chased the dogs.
Next year, the geese returned for half the season. Then they flew off.
Next year, no geese.
Next year, the dogs are removed in the summer, yet the winter found no geese.
This year, no geese.
I think two very ambitious feral dogs will turn your yard into a peaceful oasis, until your neighbors tell you to remove (aka kill) the dogs that keep killing their livestock.
BTW, my in-laws wanted the geese--go figure when considering your situation.
For a variety of unwanted critters, I use livestock style electric fence. Very effective. After getting zapped a couple of times, they won't come near it. You can eventually turn it off. Just the sight of the hot wire is enough at that point.
Incrementally annoying, but not killing an animal is no way to get rid of it. I had squirrels get into the walls of a house I was living in, and the landlord would not do anything about it. YOu would not believe the hell those squirrels put themselves through to come in and out of the house. They even somehow gnawed away concrete to maintain access. (?!!)
I would contact animal control... If they are actually protected, the goody-two-shoes will probably concur that it is not in the animal's best interests to continue to live there, and will do what they can to relocate the animals... The government and envirowackos may not care about your plight, but they will care about the geeses'
