Mornin' Nully.

When do you start working at the new job?

I've been stressing out over tomorrow's hearing. I will definitely need a blue thingy by the end of the day. This has definitely been my most emotional and mentally draining case and it is up for termination tomorrow. And the weird thing is, I don't have any sense of how it's going to go. This is the one with the 4 kids and the sex perp whose trial keeps getting delayed and the mom who has repeatedly protected the perp over the kids.

Good luck tomorrow, Libby, those kids are depending on you. They are lucky to have someone who cares so much! ;)

it is worth going at least once far enough north to see an aurora and see it dance.

The curtains wave and flutter. The images come and go, and it is stunning to see them move.

I worked for a year in Cordova, Alaska, and after midnight the aurora would come out. From the beach, the black sky and starts would be behind these startling, moving abstract curtains and waves.

You get the feeling tremendous curtains and waves of particles form between the sun and earth, and when they impact, it is akin to watching waves on the beach.

Thanks PW. I have already spent probably 4 hours on the witness stand regarding this case, and will have to testify again tomorrow. I really hate it. There are 5 lawyers involved in the juvenile case, and the @$$h*le lawyer that I mentioned before who has it in for me is the defense attorney in the criminal case and he makes a point of being there and coaching the perp's attorney for our case...the same attorney, I might add, who is trying to get me removed from another case because he claims I am "openly hostile" to his clients. Being grilled by that many lawyers is stressful, to say the least, and it is really hard to remember some of the details they ask about.

I'm really hoping that because I have given so much testimony at the previous two hearings (actually, one that had to be continued), that I will not be on the stand so long tomorrow and that more weight will be given to the therapists who have been working with the children and the mom since the last hearing.

It would help if the criminal trial was over, but the jerk has managed to drag that out way longer than it should have been, and there are a couple of people who are at least partially sympathetic to the mother. I guess I just have to trust that I've done my job to the best of my ability and made my recommendations accordingly, give the best testimony I can and trust God with the outcome.

Yes, I must admit that I would love, at least once, to see it, so intense like that. Don't know if I could tolerate a winter in Alaska though.

Cool, that is a neat pic.
Last time an aurora was visible in my area and wasn't behind clouds, my glasses needed strengthening, so all I saw was a fuzzy blob.

Morning Sweet,

Just finished getting DSL installed at my folks house, and migrating them over to an iMac.

No news on the job front.

On the one I was supposed to hear about Friday, he's out of town until the 6th.

My Friday interview went four hours. They said they'd call me Monday. We'll see...

Good luck with the perp and friends...

Darks,

Here is a pic of the Aurora over an Alaskan town, when it is all over the sky.
Now remember these things are moving like big waves on a beach.

Here is the search that Astronomy Pic of the Day gives for looking up Aurora.

the shuttle photo of the aurora looks like this:

That's really pretty! Yes, of course I remember. One of those years was 1983. In Everett. It snowed on Thanksgiving and the power went out and it snowed on Christmas and the power went out. On both holidays!

Snow like this happens about every 5 years or so? And lasts about a week? LOL!

Good night, Westy! Sleep well.
