Whassamatter? Skeered of elevators? Oops! I forgot...

For some reason, that is an amazingly hilarious photo.

Beautiful view, isnt it?
Like something out of my wildest imagination--or spaceweather.com.

The naked-eye view through the transparent dome material is cool, but the real view is developed from the counter-rotating turrets mounted top and bottom on the thrust ring.
When an object is close enough, it can be rendered stereoscopically on your in-room monitors. Otherwise, we combine the images to reduce atmospheric shimmer and electronic noise.
We are trying to establish a time-synchronization function across the diameter of the Thrust Ring. that would give us a synthetic aperture of over two miles.
Unfortunately, our total light-gathering power will not allow us to image planets outside of our own system, but we should be able to get some very nice views of the local worlds.

It's a small world, after all: a world inhabitated by mimes, apparently.

For anyone worried about the currently conflict between Kim and the Castle allies, put your mind at ease.

I'm glad you posted that.
I was thinking about composing a message to be released when we return from Mars, bearing a few asteroids as gifts to Humanity.
Then of course, I would have to apologize for the devastation they caused, after they got away from us and impacted on Earth.
Apologizing especially to the people inhabiting the island of South Korea...
