I very much like this series.

And I find Cleopatra quite hot.

I like Cornelia, Pompey's wife. She married him at the height of his power and ends up an impoverished refugee, deserted by all. Not a single dig or putdown of a man who has failed. Not a shred of self-pity. Just doing her very, very best to look after her stepchildren and be a good mother to them. Just doing her very best to keep all their spirits up.

VERY upset that there was no new episode Sunday.

Arrrrgghh! That cranked me and the Missus too. We were all set to watch and WHAM...we remebered the previews from last week.

It has been interesting tracking the show with historical timelines. Pretty acurate so far. They do take license with the gaps where they can. Example: The exact manner of Pompey's death. Very cool so far.

Kitty is fine...enjoying life next to the warm monitor! She has gained all her weight back and is on thyroid medication.

Casey and I say "Thanks!"

I like the announcer: "Real roman bread for real Romans"

He shows that marketing is about the same as it was back then, but the quality of newscasters has declined.

This "Rome" show is a decent show in that it may get people interested in Roman history. Its sets and costumes are excellent. But it is not a great show. It's actually quite bizarre.

I am amazed and baffled at the decisions the writers have made. Atia and Servilia were nothing like they are being portrayed. We have this Pullo and Vorenus as the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern accidentally affecting big events in the manner of Forest Gump. The lesbian relationship between Servilia and Octavia is truly ridiculous. There is too much wasting time with the family problems of Vorenus's wife. We also waste time with the intentionally vague story about Octavius losing his virginity at a brothel. And in another episode we get to look at, for several minutes, a gigantic penis of some slave that Atia is sending to Servilia as a gift. Yet in the meantime, we barely even see Julius Caesar, who may be the greatest and most talented political leader who ever lived.

I really lost faith in this show with Episode 7 - Pharsalus. The battle is barely shown - at first I thought Caesar was reminiscing on past battles in Gaul. But that was it, the actual battle, over in barely a blink of time. But on the other hand, the writers made sure to put in enough time dedicated to a make out session between Octavia and Servilia.

It's like the writers do not have enough confidence in the history by itself to tell an interesting story. These unnecessary attempts to titilate are going to make this show a joke, make the Romans look like a bunch of degenerate bisexual idiots (who yet somehow managed to run an empire for 700 years). Let's face it, the people who get off on such things are largely not going to watch such a historical show. As a result, what could have been a great and memorable show will be just a passing fancy. It does not compare favorably to I, Claudius.

I knew I liked you.

Hubby and I generally find one show to watch every week together, and Rome is it right now.

I understood that Rome was only to be a ten episode series. Is it an actual show show? I have now heard people talking of "next season". I hope that is true, because I find it really fun to watch. It has been a while since I have read any Roman history, so this show kinda pulls those parts of my brain alive.

Good Lord, man, no one is watching it for college credit. It is historical fiction.

It is not on the History channel. It is on HBO, and I think they are doing a great job.

Yes there is! There's even a lesbian storyline. Gosh, isn't cable great? Seriously, I love the show. The way the last ep ended was great.

Titus Pullo is Rome's very own Forest Gump. Long live Titus Gump!

Yes, I saw the gift. Had to rewind a few times to make sure my eyes were not playing tricks. Then, I had to rewind again, and again, and again.

I loved the questioned paternity of Caesarian- was it Caesar or Titus Pullo?? Pullo's look at the end was classic.

HAHAHA! It kinda disturbs me, since I know the older woman is using the younger one to ruin the young girl's mother. It's an affair between Servilia, Caesar's former lover, and Octavia, Antony's future wife. Octavia's mom is/was Antony's lover.
