Good idea.
I think that's the key consideration right there.
And that ~is~ a very bright side indeed.
We've got mosquitoes, palmetto bugs and other nasties all year long. Blech!
I think you've got some really good points there and you did CindyDawg a service by voicing them. Like you say, it's her choice. I just wanted to voice the other side of the arguement. Serious riding isn't everybody's thing. As long as she's confident and in control on the ground, that's all that's really required to raise a foal up to the point of starting under saddle.
Another interesting horse-related hobby that I think would be fun to participate in are the mounted Civil War Reinactments. Cav was involved in them for a while and they sounded really cool. Maybe he'll tell us about some of the drills and things they did.
G'mornin! I'm glad SOMEBODY'S having nice weather. Here it's about 46 outside and rainy. I need some sunshine! It's been cloudy all week, even though it hasn't rained that much.
Cold, windy and drizzling here today again.The really old people are out bike riding. They call themselves the Feminils. I never cared too much for all women groups though. Men, interesting:')
Talk to us:')
I was still fly spraying a couple of weeks ago.
I have done a lot of small animal rescue and I just hate when someone gets a cute baby and then no longer interested when they get bigger. If you have animals you need to take care of them or make sure they go to good homes if you sell or give them away.
Oh yes, that would be very interesting to hear about. The old South, plantations, and the Civil War were always very interesting to me. Maybe, that was my former lifetime. On vacations to the South, touring the old mansions and battlefields, was great enjoyment.
The picture of the old mansion was cool. There are some great homes downtown and I need to get some shots and post them sometime.
My in-game name is Belle Starr
Belle Shirley lived near Wilburton, Porum and Fanshaw
Her name was respected until she turned outlaw.
Belle Shirley married Sam Starr who rode the Owlhoot Trail;
She joined up and soon became as rough as any male.
She picked up men's bad habits and was handy with a gun;
She robbed and she plundered and thought it was great fun.
CHORUS:
Belle Starr, Belle Starr,
With a bullet in your back,
Are you lyin' there a-wishin'
That you'd never joined that pack?
Dyin' is not easy on some forgotten trail;
She wanted to be famous and she did not fail.
Some claimed Belle was wicked while others called her brave,
When she staged a hold-up and hid out in Robert's Cave.
Belle Starr became a legend; yes, that's a well-known fact,
But she ended up an outlaw with a bullet in her back.
Enough history for today, am off to the gun club.
LOL...hey that's what this forum is for, to voice opinions:), anyone who gets offend by others opinion have no business being on this type of forum:)
To be honest, I do agree with you to a certain extent. I just don't express myself very well. I do think backyard horse breeders can and do have nice babies.
My "average" was meant more towards expereince level. I am in no way bashing Cindy, we all were beginners at one point. But for her level of experience I don't think a foal at this time is a good idea. I could be very wrong about that, no doubt. Since she said in later posts that she has been riding and learning, she could be farther along than I thought.
Hair pretty much nailed more what I meant then I did:)

I have to return them because they're too big and they don't give my ankle enough support. I might stick with them just because they're so pratical. And they are really comfortable. I love the foot support, and wish that they made that in a sneaker.
Hard core means that only the breeds of horses that were actually used in the real war can be ridden as a cavalry horse. The same rule applies to the uniform you wear, the weapons you carry, the saddle you ride, your tent and the cooking utinsels you cook your food with.
Usually there are sutler's tents set up near each battle site that you can buy most anything you may need. They will have blankets, tents, shoes/boots, BP guns, hats, period uniforms/clothing. We carried our own food with us but anything else could be bought at the battle site. Each soldier/trooper is required to have a Union and Confederate uniform. That way you could be Union one day and Cofederate the next and there would be no shortage of soldiers for either side of the re-enactment battle.
My company always liked to be Union because it was said to be ok to shoot women and children.......... Just kidding! : )
Will tell you more later this afternoon.
I have these really cool looking loafers. After healing a heel blister this week, the suckers are going in the trash.
Got any pictures?
I hope one day to have horses and be able to participate on this thread more than I do now. :-D
And I have no doubt that my first horse will be somewhere around 10+ years old and dead broke.
Foals are awful cute, but they bite too much - from what I've seen and heard. *grin*
