HA! I'm still trying to come up with reasons to own one :~D
Yes'm. Ya can't rub 'em. ;) No matter how tempting!! I dont know what contact solution you use but you might want to try Opti-Free express. Nothing else works for me.
lol. There are none. Although the older I get the higher up the ground looks. I find myself driving down the highway going to my husband, "look at the cute pony! Don't you want a cute pony?" He's 6'.2". They kind of make cute lawn ornaments. (The ponies, not the husbands. ;->)
You're very right about that. I wasn't thinking about it from that prespective. It was hard to tell tho, just how sick the horse is.
It probably would be best to wait till she is in perfect health.

There is this pony that looks kind of like Okie in coloring but more draft. He has the hair growing over his feet. I pass him going to get Sarah Lee. He use to run up at me but now I point and he stays. Anyway , he was tied up in the barn today. He looked really scruffy so I brushed him down. Eddie walked in and glanced and then told me "that's not Okie" "Nah"....He just couldn't figure out why I was grooming him. He just needed it though.
SL and the baby can be registered as Pinto based on color. Paint Assoc requires parents be registered Paint and/or Quarter Horse. Interesting how they changed that when they got big :)
Planning for a foal while you're still at that barn or a barn with experienced people is a wise idea. It's very comforting to have someone around who knows what's happening at foaling time, plus if something went wrong, minutes count and someone with experience would know there was a problem and if nothing else, call a vet.
Very few people make money raising horses :) but the sight of a birth and a new foal is worth more than gold. And, lots of people raise horses who don't/can't/won't ride. Me for one - Bob is the rider, my riding days are over but I get just as much enjoyment out of my horses as I would if I did.
Okay, back to lurker mode - I'll finish reading.
That is a cool old house - it HAS to be haunted, and surely has god hidden in the walls. :)
god = gold but God probably also :)
There's lots of folk that don't much ride any more who have taken to breeding as a way to stay around them. Still, you didn't start out there... My point was that for CD to be paying board on 2-3 horses, I'd think learning to ride is a better priority now than breeding if she's ever gonna ride. It ain't gonna get easier later.
And I understand on the Pinto registry... But since it's not a breed but rather a registry, it doesn't add a lot of value, and I think most demand for Pintos is for Arab or NSH type, not necessarily stock horse type.... the stock horse people are into registered Paints for obvious reasons :~D
Again... it's just my opinion on it.... Many others may vary.
I do ride. I don't talk about it much though caz it's boring thread stuff, mostly arena. Hairs right though. I could be better with more time in the saddle. I like riding but I hate getting on. I have a hip problem and it's such a relief when I'm in the saddle. After that I enjoy riding but I love working with them on the ground . It's one area that I feel do really well. Others think so too. My trainer says she has never seen anyone with as much patience. It's just such a good feeling when they "get it"
Heh - I thought you knew something about holy haunting I hadn't heard of :~D
I can't pay board on 3. If I do this I have to be out by weaning time.
Did you see the belle in the pink hoop skirt on the porch? :')
I've lived in a house that was haunted, although I never saw the ghost, only my dog and my son did. Pretty sure he wasn't holy though.
Heh... I'd hope so :~D
Gets expensive. I'm pretty thankful for this place. If the house came apart I'd still stay here for the barn.
Heh... A high school boyfriend said his house was haunted... that there was a face in the attic window sometimes.
How do you know the dog saw it?
I don't have a problem mounting, it's just with my knee and neck, riding any distance is torture now. And it's usually 30-45minutes from home when it happens. That becomes a long walk back.
He growled and raised his hackles whenever it was around. If it was human he would have eaten it alive but it was something he couldn't do anything about.
I didn't care much for a haunted house - we only stayed there 3yrs.
