Not with the amount of time I have left for today however I do have some images that are somewhat larger at the link below.
Which, dang it reminds me I have to add this years stuff to it, there is never enough time.
That Bob horse of yours sure is a fine looking animal!
I haven't for many years but I am going to start again this summer, got a pack saddle being made as we speak. Looking forward to it.
Its only been a couple of years now that I could pencil horses back into the family budget, now that the boys are getting big enough to do this stuff with me it is a lot easier to justify, or is that rationalize?
Whatever works!
It's a lot of work to pack up into the backcountry, and I'm a little daunted by it.
I saw your endorsement of BackCountry Horsemen, a group I support and we plan to join. There's three chapters here who don't exactly get along, and I have friends in each... Trying to decide which chapter to join :~D
Welcome to the Saddle Club.
I will add you to the ping list, if you like.
Thanks for the link to the bigger pics. You take really nice ones!
I'm glad you like Bob. I think he's pretty special too. He's 2 and a half and is my current riding horse. I raised him from a baby but I haven't been able to ride him much since September because he cut one of his legs really bad. It's healing up nicely now and I've rode him a time or two here lately but with the holidays upon us, it'll have to wait until next year. I'd love to bring him out your way and ride some day. The scenery is just breathtaking. But it'll probably never happen, so I'll just have to look at your pictures and imagine.
On another note, I was reading your news letter about the trails legislation and sure was glad to hear it. I was beginning to think that we were going to get completely shut out of riding in our local National Forest. They've already squeezed us out of all but about 30 miles of designated horse trails. I sure hope it passes!
Becky
Hey that does look great :~D I like how the panels work, with the nice wide aisle between them!
I'm glad for you that it was so fast to get it fixed... It looked daunting to have no roof and a major project to get it rebuilt.
Well, Mack will tell you it doesn't seem like it went quick to him:). But yeah it is nice to have the hard part over. I'm really going to like this. It will be so quick to feed, with the horses on each side of the feed room. I like the way the panels worked out too, the way it's wider at the the gate end and sweeps around to the feed room on each side. And I've never had a light switch to turn on the lights at the barn. The switch was at the shop, and I also have a plug in now at the barn. The hot wire box is in the feed room which will be soooooo much more convinient when I have to work on fence.
Mack did a great job on everything:)
Becky
Good job Mack! ~applause~
I didn't mean to make light of all the work it was! :~D Just glad you didn't have to hire someone or wait till spring to do it.
It worked out nice that it left just enough standing to make a very nice barn for what you need now.
What about tractor parking and the other stuff that used to be in the rest of the barn? What's to become of it now?
It will have to be out in the weather, but it's been out in the weather for years. We just put it inside because we could.
I know you weren't making light of the work he did:). I just think he's ready to be done with it:). He mumbled some stuff about if we didn't have the #@$% horses we could have just bulldozed this thing down....:). But it looks so good, I think he's glad it worked out like it did. I think this smaller barn just looks "neater" as in tidier.
Becky
It is tidier... the bigger barn got filled with bigger piles of frap, probably ;~D
And you can see more of the property, I bet, without that big shedrow blocking all that view.
It's really raining for real now... dang.
Dang. I think at this time of year, we should no longer worry about trying to wait till we empty out the barn before we buy more. If we got a dry day, we buy.
I'm going to come home first to get the stuff out of the truck and change clothes before going to the feed store.
OK - I'll go with you to the feed store then....
It looks really nice Becky! I love the lights and wish I had some in my barn. I have to run an extension cord out when I need light.
We need to keep a close eye on the weather and try find a time to buy a bunch... I don't know want to have to worry about it this weekend. :(
Thanks:), SNJ
Well it is suppose to really warm up here today, and stay nice thru Christmas Day:) Whoo Hoo.
Today and tomorrow I will be busy getting cleaning, baking and cookiing done to be ready for Christmas dinner. I am expecting 14 adults and 5 children (infant to 8 yr old).
Becky
Lucky you! We're gonna have rain I think! In Washington! Shocking I know ;~D
Wow - that's a lot for dinner, I'm in aw of that! Are they bringing sides along or are you making ~everything~?
Becky, I hope that nice weather is heading our way. It warmed up to the 20's today. Yesterday it was 4! Wonderful your barn is done..yeah.
