Duchess and Rose, so nice to hear from you again. Now, if a few other FRiends who have been AFK, would stop and at least say hi....
Still just not much to report, horse-wise... Although we ~talked~ about riding this weekend, it never happened.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Pregnant Turkey Chuckle
One year at Christmas my mom went to my sister's house for the traditional feast. Knowing how gullible my sister is, my mom decided to play a trick. She told my sister that she needed something from the store. When my sister left, my mom took the turkey out of the oven, removed the stuffing, stuffed a Cornish hen, and inserted it into the turkey, and re-stuffed the turkey. She then placed the bird(s) back in the oven. When it was time for dinner, my sister pulled the turkey out of the oven and proceeded to remove the stuffing. When her serving spoon hit something, she reached in and pulled out the little bird. With a look of total shock on her face, my mother exclaimed, "Patricia, you've cooked a pregnant bird!"
At the reality of this horrifying news, my sister started to cry. It took the family two hours to convince her that turkeys lay eggs.
Now THAT is funny! Wish I'd thought of it.
I'd be so embarrassed if I left a place a mess :) Good to hear from you, have a great Thanksgiving week.
Have a good Thanksgiving.
Oh my, talk about a Thanksgiving to remember :)
I thought it was funny too. I got that in an email a few days ago. It wasn't my sister! LOLOL
I was 16 or 17 when I cooked my first bird. I didn't know about all that stuff in there:') You know that is kind of mean of humans. We cut off their heads and stick their necks up their butts.
Well I went to the stables today. It was rough getting to work at 6 but so nice to get off at 3. Sarah Lee was a real "turkey" today. She actually tried to bite me.
Oh yeah - And how'd that happen?
I was brushing mud off her neck. She didn't like it. She didn't like much today and she really didn't like when I jerked her head down. Such a drama queen. You would have thought I beat her, the way she looked at me. I hardly ever have to get on to her. Today the exception. We had a lot of re-dos.
Hmmm.... While that'd be shocking behavior from Bay, I expect it from Cyn (as well as she expects to be slapped for it). You haven't been working with her as much lately, right? Some horses decide to re-negotiate their contracts after a couple weeks off :~D
Sounds like it. :~D
Yeah. I expect she will have perfect manners tomorrow.
We need some horse pictures. It's been awhile since a baby update,
Hi everyone. I haven't had anything horsey to report since my trail ride, so I haven't been on. I didn't get to ride this weekend because my trainer is in Utah. This thanksgiving I'll be up in Maine for a few days, and yes, there will be pictures, though the weather is supposed to be lousy. :-/ Been very busy and exhausted.
Good morning! : )
I love to cook a fresh turkey or chicken, but hate dealing with all that mess, so Deaconjim gets the honors! I can kill and pluck a turkey fine, but when you buy them and it's stuffed inside, it just makes me so queasy.
Needless to say, I make onion gravy! : )
You both have a great thanksgiving! Nice to catch up with you duchess. I hardly get a chance to get on here lately so it takes me ages to play catch up.
