This isn't from The Onion? I am astounded that the history channel woould air this garbage. Oh yeah, GB senior was CIA director and refused to turn over information to the Pres. cause he had no need to know. Carter, Reagan and BC couldn't keep their mouths shut and GWB's first order of business (cuz he's his father's son) was to put a lid back on it. The name of the program was UFOs and the Office of the President (or something like that.)

"We have a calling from beyond the stars to stand for freedom, and America will always be faithful to that cause." -George W. Bush Yes, but what isn't widely known is that the President said this not long after spending an entire weekend watching THE GREATEST AMERICAN HERO.

I was hoping to die without ever recalling that small part of the 80s.
Thanks. Jerk!

JC. He is an original. Speaking of JC, Carter's claim that he once saw a UFO was also unchallenged. His story was completely unverifiable and none of the twenty others he claimed saw it too were ever located. It was a stunt by a relatively unknown congressman to get publicity to the yahoos but I guess you have to give an ex some slack.

The most famous is Reagan's speculation (for which he was widely derided) that if alien invaders showed up one day to attack the Earth, international enemies (like the U.S. and the Soviets) would immediately forge friendships based on their common humanity. I doubt Ronaldus Magnus would have said something like this had he thought the very existence of aliens was bullcrap.
But my favorite was when he and Steven Spielberg screened E.T. together in '82. At its ending, the President leaned over and told the director "You have no idea how close this really is."

I am a believer in the possibility of UFOs as signs of ET visitations, but deeply skeptical as to any particular claims. The Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld conspiracy theory is absurd. One has to be lost deep, deep, deep in the woods to believe it.
To: bkepley
i thought Bush wanted Cheney cause he is a Halliburton guy and
wanted Rumsfeld because he is a War Oil Hawk that will fight for Cheney's oil Company Halliburton. :D Guess when one of their theories crumbles they move on to the next best thing... even if it is UFO's and please no flames this is obviously heavy sarcasm. :D

Art Bell's court time and absence came out of his unwillingness to encourage a repeat guest who played tapes backwards to understand speakers' "subconscious" Freudian slips.
Art could tell the guy was stretching to make some of the claims of what is heard on the audio tapes. He would not play along and wanted the guest to bring clearer examples. Things escalated between the two on the internet and elsewhere if I recall.
