Are there more fires than usual up there this summer? We had one in the Santa Ritas, lightning-caused, but not too many others. Now, I think everything is too wet.

You were walking about steam engines the other night..Have either of you ridden on or seen a wood burning engine???

I rode on one a long time ago..It would stop fairly often to throw a few more cords of wood onto the tender...

....Westy....

I don't think I've ridden on a big train like that, but it sounds really neat. There is the Skunk Train in Northern CA that has smaller tracks, and I think it is wood-burning?

Did you say you rode the train in Copper Canyon?

I think I've seen one, but I'm not positive....in Telluride, Colorado, there's an old, old train that goes back and forth between Telluride and Durango...I've never been on it, only seen it from afar...so I'm not sure.

I don't know that there are more fires this year, but they are having a time putting them out...

Things so dry and a wind blowing....Burnt a bunch of houses with one of them....

Ohhh, we stopped to take pics of that train near Durango two summers ago! I think you are right. I think we used up almost an entire roll of film and probably nearly got run over by speeders!

There was a photo in the paper today of people evacuating, but all it said was Washington State.
