Good questions. I think for plain pleasure riding, a pasture ornament can do a few hours on the trail, at an easy pace. I'm not sure how much work you need to put in for endurance or CTR, if you are serious about winning, probably alot.
Me too. broke my second one this year.. do they make a disposable one time use vaccuum? Cause that is what mine think they are! : )
Oh dear.... well, most of us have done something dumb before.... some of us are lucky that no one was around to see, and some had an audience. ;~D
I like the slightly cooler weather too! : ) Did you have any tornados near you? Any damage?
We have a severe shortage of gas here.... : (
Sorry to hear about your fall and rope burns. Just glad nothing more serious happened.
When I got bucked off of Juma, the first thing I did was get up and look around to see if anybody saw it. It was a spectacular launch, I was lucky no one saw.
We live near the racetrack that all that storm damage last month... but again - we were blessed - just a few trees down.
The weather man says Ga. will have this cooler drier air all weekend and into middle of next week... so I'm up for several good rides this weekend.
Sorry about your gas - it went up to over $4 here on Thur. but dropped back down. My son takes a couple of classes at an independent learning center for homeschoolers.. they decided to suspend classes next week because of gas shortages/prices.
I'll check in later - off to barn....Cindy
CTRs and Endurance is a lot different than pleasure... our horses do just fine just going on weekend pleasure rides... Occasional longer rides, but most in the 8 mile range.
And for all of them, I'd say it really varies. It varies by the horse's age, type and natural stamina.
If your typical CTR is 40 miles over two days, I'd say most pasture ornaments that are ridden lightly would get through the first day OK. Where conditioning separates the men from the boys is on day two.
That said... all conditioning involves impact and stress, for every benefit to muscle there is also some degree of wear and tear on bone and ligament... It is possible to over-condition.
I don't think there is a nice clean short answer.
Good morning!
Mornin' everyone!
Tuffy - I always buy Dirt Devil brand vacuums. They aren't very expensive and usually last longer than a year ot two for me.
Try to go bagless if you can. It cuts back on the expense when you don't have to buy bags for it and I find its easier to clean out when it's full.
Not to mention, it's always ready to go and you don't have to stop when you realize the bag is stuffed and you don't have a replacement.
I'll second Ruthy's endorsement of Dirt Devil bagless vacuums. I love mine as much as I can love a vaccuum.
Has the attachments and hoses and enough power, and I absolutely do not miss always being out of bags, at the rate I fill them up.
You disapeared from the "to" line on the last post!
Pesky goblins are about again! : )
Actually, I've been on a caramel kick lately.
I can put away those Brach's Royals like nobody's business!
What are those?
And the Dirt Devil can handle pennies and other weird stuff that ends up on the floor.
Makes a heckuva racket when it sucks one up though!
They're caramels with different flavored centers.
Butter Rum, Raspberry, Chocolate, Maple, Orange and Vanilla.
Butter Rum and Raspberry are my favorites, so when I get them from the Pick-A-Mix displays,I usually get a bunch of those and just a handful of the others. ;-D
I get tiny bits of lego, and hair bands and toy soldiers and tiny stirrups from toy horses, and.......
The kids are quite used to the smell of burning and the vaccuum catching fire! LOL
I LOVE caramels and the raspberry and orange ones sound heavenly. Where do you get them from?
*laughing*
Most of my house is tiled now. It's much easier to clean! A swiffer and a damp mop spritzed with Pine Sol or Mistolin is all it takes for average cleaning.
After Hurricane Andrew, we changed out most of the house because tile wouldn't ruin with water like carpet did. We had some serious mold issues and wanted to remove any possible item that could cause more mold.
The bedrooms were changed out recently. The house stays a lot cooler with tile floors and we dont have to run the AC as long now.
But my feet are always cold. :-(
