I'll try to get some close up pictures of all of him soon. I've not noticed any black hairs in his mane and tail but will look.
Glad all the other horses are settling in well... and that Lightning is getting worked... It's good for him.
I've got to try to get to work here, have a lot of tidying to do, we have company coming this weekend and the spare room needs to be dusted off and turned back into a bedroom :~D
Great pics Duchess! Your little one has grown so quickly! I am missing mine, much more than I thought, it seems so quiet at feeding times! Also I can go out to the fields without risk of having my camera eaten. Adge thought it was his to munch whenever I was near him! LOL
Lightning is going to be used as a stud horse as well as riding. His new owner Mark is very pleased with him. Misty will be bred next year again to him, as they love Adge and Thunder.
Smokey and Sugar (our dirty white horses!) are doing great and great company for each other. I keep meaning to take a pic of Smokey when he is wet. His coloring is unusual and impressive. He has at least 3 different colors on him, speckled grey, the white, and a speckled brown.
I only recognized one screen name.
I wouldn't have but I don't report anyone. I think I took an oath or something a long time ago when I was a member of the NES club:') Anyway, you have to do what you have to do , I guess. It was just a matter of time before they caught up with him . I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did. In all fairness though I've seen these kind of remarks made jokingly of course all over the board. We were laughing last night about maybe it was the Birmingham (UK) thread. I hope you aren't mad but I hate "silence" and it's not like we haven't peacefully disagreed a little bit on stuff before:')
I'm not mad at all.... though his charms were lost on me, I know some of you enjoyed his banter.
But as long as we are here, I didn't want to leave those kind of comments unanswered on this thread as if we were unappreciative of the space we're given here ~to talk horses~.
He was never here to talk horses.
Hey! Are you packed already for the weekend? LOL! I am just finishing up! Deaconjim thinks I am crazy, but he is the one who will wear his fav. shorts, throw them in the wash Thursday and want to wear the Friday! : / This way I know I am not going to be rushed off my feet and can make sure that all the other important stuff is done/packed. : )
Still..............he married Me, so who's the crazy one around here????? : D
Sorry I'm so late in responding. I really appreciate y'all thinking of us. Everything is fine here. I think Dennis blew himself out before he ever got to us. The wind wasn't really even all that bad. I moved all my outside potted plants that I could into our storage building and put the rest on the downwind side of the house so they wouldn't get torn up, but they would've been fine where they were. Now I've gotta put 'em all back. They were saying that Dennis was supposed to be way worse than Ivan and Ivan made a believer out of me so I was more prepared this time even though I didn't really need it. Better safe than sorry. Thanks again for the thoughts and prayers! :o)
Very glad to hear all is well with you!
That's cool! Do you think that would be considered "brindling"? I've never seen anything like it, except for in pictures about unusual coat patterns.
LOL!! You and Hair with your over-sexed horses! ;o) If he don't have any noogies, you don't have to worry about it. Even if he was cryptorchid(undescended testicles), he couldn't produce any active sperm so you'd still be in the clear. Suger just gets to enjoy the services of a "stud" without getting pregnant and if he doesn't exhibit any other stallion-like behavior like agression, I wouldn't worry about it. Let them have their fun!
What a pleasant rain we're getting right now! It's really pouring!
I can't get out there to get the meat chickens and they're in a tizzy!
It's not raining here yet. Just lots of thunder and lightening. I'd like for it to rain a bit.
Becky
It looks a little like that (brindling) but I can't imagine where it came from. This is one I'm not going to register until I have some experts weigh in on the color and pattern.
I had a pretty good weekend as a whole. I had planned to ride on Saturday, but my Mom needed me to help her pack up a bunch of stuff so they could pull up her old carpet and refinish the hardwood floors underneath so I had to bow out. It's just as well because I ended up needing to take little Miss Ellie to the Vet. She had pink eye, I think from all the flies. Her poor little eyes looked awful. They were all gummy and red. He did a corneal stain to make sure she didn't have any ulcers, then gave me some triple antibiotic cortisone ointment to put in them. She didn't not like the staining at ALL! It must've burned coz she went straight up both times. Poor little girl! But she looked 100% better yesterday. After that, we went to mother's.
Yesterday I took Bob up to Troy's and he had his first day of "school", but first Troy and I went on a short ride. He rode a young gray stud he's standing and I rode Bluebell. The trails around his place are really pretty, but they're REALLY steep and Bluebell was huffing and puffing in no time. We rode about an hour before I threw in the towel. With her being pregnant, I didn't want her to get too hot and tired. He'd left Bob tied to a post in the barn lot in a shipping halter while we were gone so he'd learn a little patience. When we got back he took him out to the round pen and lunged him until he was about to drop but he was really pleased with his gait. Then he took him back to the barn and put the saddle and bridle on him and lunged him in the round pen some more. He never bucked a lick and quit worrying with the bit pretty quick too. He decided that since he was doing so good, he'd go ahead and ride him in the round pen, so a friend of his held the lunge line while Troy rode. They did that for a few minutes, then he unclipped the lunge line and rode him loose in the round pen. He held his gait the whole time, with the exception of a few spurts of cantering. Troy said that he'd done more with Bob in one afternoon than he usually got done in 3 days. They thought that Bob's gait was really good and that he should make a really good trail horse. Needless to say, I was tickled.
Well, what started off as a nice gentle rain turned into a torrential downfall!
Very thrilling lightening and thunder!
It's a band of Dennis coming through, believe it or not...Jim Giles just said so!
Oh, it's raining now:), And I had started my chicken grilling for supper. Blake and I are having a good time out on the patio with an umbrella.
Becky
Yeah it's pouring now here. I looked at the radar, I don't think it will last long.
