Yeah, when I was asking about the horse, he said Juma was alot smaller. I told him I had only seen the horse in pictures.
Becky
THis is a pic of the kids sledding and the horses playing along. LOL...the kids would go down, the horses would run after them, and the WAIT for them to do it all over again!(on the left side is the pond area)
This is the pond , with the kids on their floaties.
Here's BabyGirl playing at the water's edge. She's our 'waterbaby'. Used to drive Markie NUTZ! Markie would change the water in the tub, and BG would HAVE to splish-splash her feet clean. Poor Markie would have to DUMP and start all over again. LOL!!!
And here's a pic of the hill behind the house, with the horsey kids up there. There is ANOTHER hill behind THIS one.
No, actually I don't have them switched:), Lance has long hair and Jenny has short:). Lance had on a yellow shirt, Jenny has a tank top.
I might mix up a gelding with a mare, but I know my daughter:) I was going to mention that when you sent them to me in the PM, you had them mixed up:)
Becky
OH - LOL! I thought Jenny was the one in the yellow... if not, he just looks fairly feminine!
Well, I'm glad then, because the second picture came out better than the first.
I just reread the post about your house. Someone broke in to YOUR house, robbed, then torched it????
I can't imagine how I would feel. What a nightmare. Did it burn to the ground?
How great to have a pond! Beautiful place. I sure hope you get it all fixed up and feel at home there again.
I'd like to have some kind of water, a pond, a creek, something, on our dream farm.
Where is that arena? It looks really nice.
I knew you didn't have pics switched. Even as dark as it is, I knew that first pic was Lance.
Great pics! I had to go the who's who page to see what state you were in, with all that snow.
In Texas, a pond is called a "tank".
We have a tank here but it's about dried up. No significant rain in months.
About a month ago, there was another fire, over the hill from us, it started in the back of the house(like ours and @5 others in the area). But in this LAST one, the son of a friend died in it.
I just don't think the local FD is too on the ball.
Yes and No. Part of the problem that both Jenny and I had was really not ours or the horses fault. Going to the second barrel we were running at a wall. This arena is open on 3 sides. I've been told that running at a solid wall can really throw a new horse off, so we are assuming that is what happened. Dot was really trying to duck off, wasn't moving over to get in postion for the barrel, and knocked it over. Harley got about 1/2 way to it and started zigzagging like he didn't know where to go, and almost came to a complete stop about the time I was ready for the turn. Once I turned him he went to 3rd barrel and made a beautiful turn. Our first barrel, he broke to a trot, because (and this is what I'm most unhappy about in regards to myself), I wasn't going fast at all. I got really nervous, because we were going into this arena blind. We did not get to go into the arena before the race started and warm them up. I let that get to me thinking he'd be spooky going in, but he seemed fine, till we headed for the 2nd one and that is understandable. I didn't expect to be a speed demon, but I've done better then that, and I was mad at myself for being a wuss:). But the third barrel and the run home were good for me. I think if we had done some exhibitions we would have done better. Jenny and I because of our experience with a horse she use to have are leary of blowing a horse up by working on the pattern too much. But we learned with a new horse it might not hurt to do a few trot/lope thrus to get their minds on what is expected.
Neither Dot or Harley have done this enough to really have figured out what they are going to be doing when we get to one of these. A seasoned horse like Rowdy, probably knows what's coming as soon as they get there. Dot and Harley are still figureing that out.

Duchess, they keep showing footage this morning of a beautiful farm, somewhere near a SW wildfire, and there is the glow of a fire just over a hill. The paddocks all look empty, as if they have evacuated already.
What I wondered is why there wasn't a guy out brush hawgging the tall weeds around the farm, and up that hillside between that farm and the fire. If it was mine, I'd be out there mowing and mowing and mowing around the perimeter until the machine caught fire.
I just feel for those in the path of something that is so out of control. I sure hope you don't have anything that gets anywhere close.
This arena is in Checotha, (sp), home town of Carrie Underwood:)

Don't be too hard on yourself, confidence, yours and Harley's, will come in time, if you are cautious and don't do anything dangerous. Speed will come later, I think it's perfectly reasonable to err on the side of slow.
Well he certainly was watching out over you when that fire started and none of you were hurt, physically that is. I know the mental anguish has been awful.
Well, I guess he has made some life changes according to tuffy, he has a kid now. BUT, he use to be poofy:). There was a guy there with him that seemed poofy to. Jenny and I talked about it. I told her I had heard he was married now and had a kid....But he still has some very feminine mannerisms....kind of scary.
Becky
Probably is a mare. Bluebell's teats look just like that, even though she hasn't had a baby to nurse this year. I guess after so many, they just stay elongated like that.
***I just reread the post about your house. Someone broke in to YOUR house, robbed, then torched it???? ***
Yeah.
Well, the outer shell is still there. The three front rooms are there but no ceilings. You can look up and see the trusses/roof.
The back 1/2 is pretty much gone. I've got pix somewhere, just haven't dug far enough in the box to find them. I DO have one 'before' pic.
The first Xmas after was really hard. We lost all the decorations that the kids have made every year for Xmas. Those were irreplaceable treasures.
Thanks:)
I was just glad I did it. Have to start somewhere. I think next week, since I'm sooooo far off the times I'm just going to do some exhibitions. Since we are still in training, no sense paying $20 for one run, when I can get 3 for $10. Once I start getting even close to the competitive times, I'll go back to competeing. I've been told, if you don't compete you will never push yourself enough to improve. I know girls who have been running exhibitions for years. At some point you HAVE to put yourself in the heat of it. But right now.....I'm too far off to be worrying about that.
Becky
Well, I don't know, these barrel horses are usually pretty young, and never had babies. They usually wait till their down on the barrel circuit to breed them. I think this one was young, he was just doing exhibitions on her.
