My vet gave me a pump spray bottle of nitrofurizone mixed with DMSO when Blade got a nasty puncture would in his neck from running into something during a hailstorm.

He was at my MIL's at the time and since she doesn't get into the pasture with them when she feeds, she didn't notice it for a couple of days. It got really infected and abscessed and swelled up really big. It had to have a drain tube put in and be irrigated with a solution of epsom salt and iodine every day, then sprayed with the nitrofurizone/DMSO stuff after that. It worked really well but it was weird because it would get warm after you sprayed it and started rubbing. You needed to wear gloves when you applied it or you'd be tasting a nasty garlic taste in your mouth the minute you touched it. Weird!

Heh... I don't blame them.... people think they have to have a very complex set of rules to keep us from looking like animals... And they seem to have a hard time seperating nursing from sex....

I think it's rather funny, because the other animals don't seem to be embarrassed about either one. ;~D

Belle is rather "quiet" about when she is in. It's hard to detect. If I don't get her done soon, it's going to be to late for this year. I gave her the shot with Dot, but the one last year, I just happen to catch her when I was leading Rocky by her. I'm just ready to get this done, and send her back to her pasture.

Bike along:)? Doesn't she have horses? Is she nuts:)

LOL That DMSO is funny stuff. If you got it on your hands, you'd also have garlic breath.

That's the DMSO.... it's very weird stuff! People buy horse-DMSO to use on their own ailments... I guess it used to be widely used as a people liniment, but was banned for some risk.

"And they seem to have a hard time seperating nursing from sex...."

Probably the major problem, besides just not being able to mind their own business. There will always be people in the world that go around looking for something to be offended by so they can complain.

Dang. Wish I lived next door to you. There is nothing in this world better than a fresh tomato out of someone's garden.

SO Belle is not like the Bawdy Cyn then, when she's in?

Yes, Lisa is crazy, but not just cuz she doesn't have horses ;~D She rode a horse here once, when Tiff brought her QH 'Cat' over, the one ecurbh rode in the river picture you've seen. But I think thats the only time she's been on a horse.

I don't know how she'll hold up.... We're taking her to the falls, I think... There's not a lot of climbing on that trail, and on the flat, she should easily go much faster than us. Maybe she'll ride up ahead and rest.

I am looking forward to her being able to take pictures of Bruce and I together on trail.

It gave the kids something to do and they are excited every time they pick another vegetable.
As for the breastfeeding threads, I went on one yesterday about men and how they can calm the babies too, there were such idiotic people on there that i couldn't even reply!
I ordered all the homeschooling stuff yesterday. I am very proud of the kids, they took all the end of year testing and Jacob who has just turned 6 will be in second grade, and Emma who has just turned 11 will be in 8th grade with one subject in 9th! The kids are excited that the school work is on the way because they enjoy it. : D

Hey it's not too late to go grab a couple of pots, some soil and some tomato plants and let the kids make it their project! Water, feeding and picking! I have grown squash in England in pots too! One plant is plenty! LOL

...Then, hoof trims wouldn't take almost ALL day and a 6-pack!...

I know what you mean. I don't have any nippers yet so I've been trying rasp on some of mine that go barefoot so that I don't have to pay the farrier $200 every time he comes. It's hard work for an outta shape couch potato let me tall ya. I can rasp for a couple of minutes at a time before I have to go sit down and blow a while and wipe all the sweat off of my head. It works out well for the horse though because I don't hold their foot up long enough for them to get fidgety. I've just managed to do front feet on a couple of horses before I give out. I gotta get a hoof stand and some nippers, that's just all there is to it.

Oh, I was mixing up Tiff with Lisa. I thought she did have horses, that's why I thought she was nuts to be going on a bike:)

Yeah, I need to stay off those threads. I read some of that stupid stuff and just shake my head, thinking, "did I just read that? I have to be dreaming, no one is that moronic and still walking around."

Your kids tested out really well! I bet they are excited about getting started. They'll all be in college at age 15.

LOL...snort.

Nah, it's needed for the donkey. He's a butt-head. Last time he got trimmed, Thaddeus did it, but hubby was holding the lead. Jake didn't like the idea of bein' havin' and he knocked Mark over a fence. Funnier than crap. Wish we would have taken pix instead of howling in laughter.

BTW....donkey-boy DOES like beer. Ya can't drink it near him, he's gotta have some.

I used to have "emergency needs" children who through no fault of their own needed safe housing. Watching something grow and helping was really good for their self esteem. They used to have a couple of pots each and be able to choose what to grow, one year a 5 year old boy wanted to grow potatoes, so we did in a pot. We had the most beautiful "early" new potatoes you have ever tasted! I nearly adopted that boy, but we managed to find him a loving foster home not too far away and he was later on adopted by them. : D

I forgot to mention, and as this is a horse thread, thought I should, the new Mum and Dad bought him a horse (they had lots of land) for a "welcome to the family" present. It was silver grey with specks of white on it and he called it Shadow.
