Well, not having them even on a two horse sounds scary to me... but all horse trailers have to have them here, even the small older straight loads.
I wonder if it's flatland behavior where there aren't a lot of hills that people get away without them?
You SIL has a buzz cut? I thought that was a guy! Sorry!
Yeah, at the end of the run when she was heading back to the alley way. At some arenas they shut the gate after you go in in and you have to stop IN the arena, some the gate is left open and you can keep going all the way out. It just depends on the arena. This one the gate was suppose to be shut after the runner entered. I'd almost bet she'd have been fine with it left open. She probably saw it open and thought they would leave it since she was coming. Who knows for sure. That is just the way she told the story.

It is actually a 4 horse slant. We just had 3 horses tho. The first slot was full of hay.
It was not smart at all to pull that thing with no brakes. But......no one listens to me. Charlie was just very very careful, not to get close to anyone. Luckily we didn't have many towns to go thru, it was almost all dual highway.

LOL:)

I don't know. The only reason mine doesn't is because it's so old and I bought it used. It has the cylinders for it, they're just not hooked up to anything and I never had it done. I don't know if they're required or not. I guess if I got stopped for something and they decided to be picky I'd find out the hard way, the same way with not having a tag on any of my trailers. We have some pretty steep hills here and my old 4WD Jeep does fine with it and 2 horses, but my 3-horse slant is just too much. One of these days I'm gonna get me a new truck! ;o)
Oh! I had Sister-in-Law on my mind. Duh! LOL!
When I was going more a few years back, I did use brake shoes up pretty fast:).
If Mack ever gets a hitch put on my truck, I'd like to have brakes on the trailer too. My trailers is pretty heavy even for a 2 horse slant. But I don't go fast unless I'm on the open highway.

Yeah, I thought "Man, that's one tough looking woman!, but I ain't gonna say anything about it!" ;o)
Travis is a great guy, but he sure would have made an ugly woman:)
LOL...

It was $100 for the brake controller unit in ours, installation was in the $30 range. It's not a lot.
Here, they'll ticket you if they don't see the plug for it. A friend got pulled over with a big dual axle flatbed full of hay because it wasn't wired for brakes.
He thought it was just his odds that he'd get pulled over by a former farmer deputy who knew something about trailers. He's a former deputy who knows something about most deputies ;~D
ROFLMHO:)
I can't wait to tell him about this:)
Poor guy, he got the dumb ass award on this trip as it was. Sat. morning I got up about 5:30 made coffee and was sitting right outside the door of the RV drinking it and getting woke up. I heard him get up and he came out and stood at the door with his hand down his boxer shorts like men do,,lol..., stood there a minute then walked right past me to the end of the RV and started taking a whizz. I was thinking, man we sure got comfortable with each other this trip. When he turned back around I heard him gasp and I looked up at him and he said, How long you been sitting there. I ssaid...LOL...I'm dieing here...Since you walked out. He never saw me sitting there. Embarrassed him bad.:)

The other thing that is required here is that the trailer has a battery on it and breakway switching so it will lock up the brakes if it breaks loose.
I've never heard about one of those. We have chains that hook if the ball breaks, but I didn't know about a battery.
Becky
ROFL! If you don't move, he can't see you ;~D
If it makes you feel any better I first though sister in law too and then nah, I'm gonna go look again because I know that was a guy. Maybe because I don't have any daughters so sons in laws not pertinent to me.
ROTFLMAO!!! Oooooo, that's a good one! I'll bet he was mortified. I wouldn't want ANYBODY to catch me scratching my privates (and we all do it!), and ESPECIALLY not my MIL. LOL!
I guess I was pretty lucky. He said he seriously thought of just going from the doorway. He'd of got me good:).
He wears glasses, I didn't realize his eye sight was that bad.
Becky
LOL...He had about an inch or two of crack showing too from the back side:)
I'm dieing. It was so funny. He's a really bashful guy too:)
