but that is the point, Gabz - I used to drive 86-miles each way to work, in MI.

Fairfax takes just about as long to get to, from here.

(I think it is twelve miles...)

And that was my point to the folks in NYC - it took my mother and friend over an hour to drive to work every day - and that was less than 10 miles.

Jeepers, it takes my husband all of five minutes on the worst traffic day to get to the plant. About three minutes drive to church or four to the grocery store. Two to three minutes to the station for a call. I could walk downtown in ten minutes, not that there is much there. Small town living is great.

Fairfax City - about twelve miles from FEWFC, isn't it?

The nearest "town" to me consists of a convenience store and a post office.....and that is more than 2 miles away on the other side of the highway. The nearest real town is 10 miles away....and the nearest "city" is 15 miles away, in Maryland :)

Robt waves at boats.

Goes off to drill holes in stair railing across town and screw many long stiff rods into newly drilled holes.

(Xsex sighs, appears slightly jealous.)

Lockheed will be hiring right here in our little neck of the woods for the marine one contract. They are busy building new houses at the newer end of our development in hopes of selling a few. You get a lot more house for the money out here in the boonies. You'd be welcomed.

Thanks, but I have hired a lot of folks out of that company - they don't tell nice stories.

You are in texas, aren't you?

The hybrid stripers in this lake act stoned most of the time anyway-they don't bite in the same area you fished in yesterday a day later even though they are swimming all around you-they don't even seem to like the same lure you caught them on when you use it another day. Catfish are much easier to catch, and tastier, to me.

At night some kinds of fish are apparently attracted to light on the surface of the water-it is even illegal in some places to fish with lights at night-like spotlighting deer.

no, i don't think so. it isn't more than a mile from the kinkos at Fair City Mall, and that is 1 mi from me and you are 5 mi. from me. so figure 7 mi. from you.

My family on both sides are ranchers, so it was a drive to go anywhere including school, or see other relatives. Where we live now, going to a neighbor's house or to the county park is the only thing you can accomplish by walking a mile or two-I can't imagine living where you could be at any needed destination in town in 2 square miles...

Not that I was implying that NY's are rude, or anything.

And I mean that in the nicest way.
