Phat,
You might be right. I hadn't heard that. But, is it possible that the Bushs think themselves as lightening rods for negative media coverage and therefore negative public opinion, and so maybe they though it best for Terri to stay away.
Politically, Plat, I have you on my side. I also have on my side the rest of my detractors in this thread- i.e. you guys want Terri saved. Therefore, since I have you, the politically smart thing to do, is to go out and get the people I don't have- And how to I do that- By getting their leaders, Jackson, Lieberman, Harkin, Nader. et.al to show up at the hospice, not me.
God Bless

Dopey. More evidence that people with shoe-sized IQs can actually string words into a sentence, no matter how ridiculous the sentence. That, coming fromt he man who invented the word "Spoolies".

If I were still in FL, I'd go there in a second. Right now I am just keeping Terri and her family intensely in my prayers. I sent Jeb Bush an impassioned e-mail, but to no avail.

Well, that is certainly the pragmatic political decision, and if the Bush family is anything, it is pragmatic. I'm not sure pragmatism is always the right thing. If what we read is right, neither of them is running for office again. Isn't now the time to stand for principle?
I suspect that it is too late, and it would be just an empty symbol right now, but it would have been interesting, to say the least.

It's not getting better, is it? Unfortunately, no. Knuckle-draggers are running around with a noose, looking for a neck to drop it on.

Sorry Norman, I don't know enough about Frist to comment. I went to his site and he says all the right things, but beyond that I don't know his record.

T,
I agree with your sentiment. But although the executive enforces, the judiciary interprets. Thats why their are police at the hospice ENFORCING the interpretation of the law by the judiciary and why the President can't step in (at least in a constitutional state).
One overrules the judiciary, when the Legislature writes new law- which hopefully the Fla legislature will do real soon.

Hey Plat,
I'm sorry, I didn't mention yout water idea, But, I would think he would be pretty cool if people all over the nation started sending cases of water either to the hospice or Greer.
To: Nachum
Everyday that passes without Terri having food or water I get the lurking feeling that our most powerful politicians haven't done all they can to save Terri. Perhaps some are in fact being too "pragmatic." If G.W.Bush is not ever running again, why not send in U.S. Marshalls because of a said Constitutional violation or the fact that the 11th circuit appeals court did not follow the letter of the law with respect to Congress' bill?
I am no junkyard dog but, the way I see it, Terri's life is more important than G.W.Bush's or anyone else's political legacy.

(and make it certified and/or insured so they gotta sign for it)

Halls,
do you want to win that filibuster nuclear option;
you want to get conservative, non-activist judges appointed to the bench; do you want to overturn Roe v Wade; do you want the Congress to remain Pub in 2006?????
Then, as leader of your party, the President can't just do stupid things willy-nilly-
Sure, Clinton would have broken the law and stormed the hospice. And now the Dems are the minority party.
When you're a leader, there's a lot to consider. I don't know the man, but from all I've seen, he has not forsaken Terri- He just can't be the cowboy you want him to be.
God Bless

That's a good thing to hope for. My hope and prayer is that God has already released her soul from her body.
To: Kings18-37
Well, Kings, hopefully they do it real soon! Terri and her family are counting on the elected leaders of their country, who's most solemn duty is to protect their citizen's lives, to come through and save her.
Other than 5 days of ping pong in the circuit appeals courts I am very skeptical of the due process Terri and the Schindlers have been afforded. It is then the responsibility of the executive branch to exercise its Constitutional power of check and step in. That means saving Terri.
I and many others are left wondering if the culture of life rhetoric by Republicans was just hot air. But hopefully as you say Jackson can get the FL legislature to pass a bill tomorrow.
God and angels be with Terri.

What's left to save? The point of no return has been reached, and there won't be any knights in shining armor.
People commit suicide all the time because of the Gestapo that is the IRS, so don't look to politicians for diddly.

Time will tell, but like you I am disappointed in the lack of action here. A lot of this does not make sense. It is a very sad day for those who love life. Sad indeed.
