and have you seen Lani Davis - that liberal POS - making a real good argument for saving Terri? 'coulda knocked me over with a stick.
This crosses all lines: political/religious/racial. It's a HUMAN issue.
I hope we'll gain from it. It's harder to hate and try to destroy someone you've gotten to know
he he
I loved that line
Watched it get light this morning before I gave up -
can't keep doing that.
Pray for good happenings tomorrow...
Thanks for being here tonight!
The Republican party after trying to stand up to liberal establishment.
Your mind is in the right place... Although, I dont know if George would use Jesse Jackson. On second thought why not? The media HAS to cover him, its a law or something.
Echo,
You get Jackson Bill and Hillary to come out publicly for reinsertion, this think changes in a heart beat.
They are my arch rivals, but I'd beg them to save Terri.
NEVER GIVE UP! NEVER GIVE UP! NEVER! NEVER! NEVER! CHIRCHILL
The point of the post is that the only way to save Terri is via a bipartisan Mercy Coalition and assessing blame now is not doing anything to help Terri.
I believe that there is no bipartisanism in our government. They have shown over GWB's term's in office that they do not care about right and wrong and have a different mentality than we do. Their conscience is clear about any action they take to remove the president from office. That is why it is futile to bargain with them. It is futile to argue about Roe vs. Wade, futile to argue about gun control, futile to argue about taxes, nationalized medicine, and "bioethics" (euthanasia). They will never compromise and constantly scheme in nefarious ways to have their way.
Clinton stormed little Elian because the press gave him a free ride. But let's give you your way. Bush storms the hospice and takes her into some form of protective custody. The media blows it into a constitutional crisis, and says Bush is running a police state. We lose the majority...
The press constantly gave Clinton free rides on everything. He was their ideological leader. They constantly attack Bush on everything he is their ideological and religious enemy. Bush will be attacked on any action he takes. To the left, he is the Devil. They will not negotiate with him in good faith.
What use is having the power of the greatest office in the land if one does not use that power? Every conservative commentator has scratched their heads trying to understand why the Bush administration cowtows to the very people they defeated in the election. I have wondered the very same thing. So far, the Republicans have not used their power to put in any judges at all. The Democrats have filibustered. The Repubicans have not used their majority to legally change the house rules to put the judges they want in. I have to assume that even if they carry the majority again, the results of the election will be the same. Inaction, no judicial appointments of their liking, and a pacifism of the left. We have a track record now of one complete 4 year term to go on. Why should it be any different?
Do I advocate a military attack on the hospice? Sitting comfortably in my chair, I would like very much to see armed paratroopers lay seige to the hospice, give the parents their daughter and throw the "police" in the hospice in a military prison for a while until their lawyers and a lot of their own money have been spent.
If I was sitting in GWB's chair? I don't know.
It could also be that taking real tangible action would present a "sea change" and force the Republicans to forcefully move forward with governing the country for whatever time is given to them. You like to quote Churchill. Here is another one for you:
One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half.
Certainly not if they refuse to publicly address the issue. By remaining silent, they forego the opportunity to turn public opinion in Terri's direction. They concede the "debate" to the mainstream media, which wants Terri dead. Both Bush brothers have been profiles in disgusting cowardice over the past seven days -- ever since the polls suggested that there might be political risk in saving Terri from the killers. PUT NOT YOUR TRUST IN PRINCES - EVEN IF THEY HAVE R AFTER THEIR NAME, OR BELONGED TO SKULL AND BONES!
Churchill,
Please read my response in Post 149, the one to Nachum. Thanks

"Michael Schiavo last week invited both the President and the Governor to visit his wife. I think they should go."
He told a reporter that President Bush was invited. That is not the same as an invitation. If he invited the President down, he would have a copy and would have had it published.
Sorry, I see no credibiblity here that Schiavo wants the President or anyone else visiting his wife. He just wants his name in the papers and on TV.
Well, I'd call it an invitation, as it was reported:

If you're saying Schiavo wasn't sincere, I certainly agree. But he said it, and I still think it would have been quite powerful for them (at least Jeb) to have called him on it.
