Baker act is a Florida law. It allows someone to hospitalized for evaluation if they are a threat to themselves or others. Doesn't apply here.

And .. you know what bothers me the most - when a person is called by Congress to testify - and then Congress provides NO protection to the point that the person is starved to death - what kind of message does that send to other people who are called to testify.
People are going to be having second thoughts about wanting to be protected by Congress.
This is open pogroms. Next your guns and next the death camp. These people want us enslaved and killed, and all Terri Schiavo like witnesses and evidences swept under carpet. AFter that we wonder how 911 happened, how abusers get to kill their kids after so many reports of abuse etc...Some languages get protected (affirmative action, death penalty, others not, pro-life etc). It does not matter what law or language they put in Congress if they do not get protected or only selectively so. This is total bankruptcy, a dog and pony show.
Congress and the prez need to wake up to the terror which false witnesses against our soldiers in Iraq etc., if not, what's the use.
This is a slavery and Civil war like precedent, with some people and evidences subhumanized (pro-life people) and others not, all with the goal of rewriting crime scenes, constitution, declaration of Independence and even the Bible . Government is not overstepping, it is doing all but its job.
The corruption is deep.
