I think he is feuding with them both, in that he probably wants a cut of the money and they don't want to bite.
He hinted that he was feuding with all Sat Radio last week.
Oh well, I get him local in Las Vegas, and on the internet as a backup. A shame he isn't on sat radio, though.
I really don't think he was 'dumped' unprovoked by either.
My feeling is that this is about money, and that Savage had a window to legally ask for more money, he did, and they didn't bite.
Savage wasn't on XM last night. I think they dropped him too.
Maybe we can hear Michael Reagan at a decent hour now.
savage himself asked to be removed from sattelite radio after ranting last tuesday that it should be regulated by the FCC, at least that's the story I'm getting. As for the show last tuesday, he was on that rant, I heard it, and lo and behold, the follwing monday he was gone from my xm radio. Have a nice time talking to yourself Savage, as for I and millions of others have no other way of tuning in.
what I don't understand is why dump @ 2 million listeners? I enjoyed Savage's show, just like I used to enjoy Rush's. I travel extensivly, and tuning into a "terriestrial" station, AM radio, is not an option I'm willing to revisit. With AM, I'm lucky to catch 5 hours a week of Rush's show, who has a hell of a lot more affiliates than Savage does. I hope Savage enjoys talking to himself, because I'm not turning off my XM radio and fumbling through white noise trying to pick him up. Those days are over foor me.
I'm betting he pushed both companies for more money and they told him to take a hike.
Yep. And think about it from the satellite companies' point of view. They don't get more subscribers by carrying Savage's show. He's on so many stations, why would somebody sign up for satellite just to hear him?
Yea, I agree - sounds like Savage thought he was a bigger shot than he was. Rather than looking at being on Sirius/XM as expanding his audience and adding some prestige, he figured it about $s and cents, probably played tough and highballed it, and they told him to take a hike.
If you think about it, Limbaugh himself probably couldn't get a good price from the satellite companies unless he agreed to do an exclusive "4th hour" or something. He's on too many stations. The people who are on XM or Sirius are just happy for the publicity.
I think being on a growing tech like XM or Sirus would be a good thing. My gut tells me this is about money - Savage overvalues himself.
Yeah, right now I don't think there is a lot of $ in the industry (unless your name is Howard Stern). The benefit is probably a token amount of money, and some prestige.
For a guy like Rush it probably wouldn't be worth it. Hannity is arguably #2 and he is on both XM and Sirius, I think. Others, like Mike Medved, probably increase their stature by being on SM. Actually, as I have said before, if Sirius had both Medved and Savage, I'd be pleased as punch!
Sirius has a great lineup tho - Liddy, Ingrham, Tammy Bruce, my new up & coming fave Jerry Doyle, and Rusty Humprhies, among others. Good conservative talkers on a good system - I love Sirus's music lineup, too!

The satellites probably wouldnt throw in ads for Savage's new book.
I used to turn him on my XM once in a while during the afternoon at work.....he is delayed in Los Angeles, so I seldom remember to listen to him.
